Findmakarov.com is a hoax says Activision

Activision have said today that the site findmakarov.com which shows a countdown to the suspected Modern Warfare 3 announcement.

Talking to IGN, Activision said “There seems to be a great deal of speculation about the next Call Of Duty project,” said a company spokesperson. “Let me be clear that we are not revealing yet. Anything indicating otherwise is a hoax.” They were also asked if they were going to be making an announcement next week, there reply was “Nope”.

The supposed MW3 reveal site appeared online yesterday and the internet got all hyped up. The news that this was a hoax I am sure comes as a major disappointment to you COD fans but even with Activision denying this it will be interesting to see if anything actually appears on the site when the countdown hits O.

Suspected to be working on the MW3 title are a number of studios including Infinity Ward (what’s left of them), Raven Software and Sledgehammer. Let’s hope we find out something soon.

If you are really curious with regards to the countdown.........

Change the date on your computer or whatever it you are using and check the site again. I'll let you's do it : p

edit - there is obviously more to it going by guns4hire's NGT vid.

I did, and the only difference is the timer is 00:00:00 the image is still the same (it was all green and blurred last night, but not this morning)

Oooh the image I saw thanks to the date change is now part of the timer.

For those who don't know what the pic is, it's

Captain Price from COD4(and MW2) throwing Soap McTavish(who you play as in COD4 and who leads Task Force 141 in MW2) a pistol, it's the last scene from COD4 basically.

There was a link on ign a while back saying that the whole thing was a hoax and was an unofficial website not linked to activision.
