What's a fair price to sell first cut silage for?

I'm figuring a % of what the land would rent for, plus fertiliser (and spreading) costs.

15 acres, 6 recently reseeded, 6 quite good, 3 older.

    thoughts?

€100 an acre is what it usually makes around here for a good crop is it just first cut you are talking about?

I havent done it, but am hoping to do it this year.
I enquired before and I was told average figures around us of 120 / acre for first cut and 80 / acre for second. This is in West Cork.

But last summer I heard sums paid were higher (up to 150 / acre) for some fields. I should add this is "what I heard" you know yerself how reliable these kinda things are...

I guess it would depend on what kinda area yer in. There is a lot of big dairy farms around us, so maybe that raises the price a bit more? I dunno...

JohnBoy - on the fertiliser item above. Any idea how much this might cost you /acre? Just to get an idea myself. I havent priced anything, and I dunno how much it is to spread either. Just be interested in hearing if you had an average figure...

One cut silage will take equivalent of 150kgs 0.7.30 per acre out of the land plus approx 150kgs C.A.N and you're up on costs of 100 euros for fertilizer alone....have to be getting 150 euro per acre.

Purchaser could bang out a load of UREA, take a heap of grass off your land, and it's nutrients with it.
