I was born on Wednesday the 13th - how scary :p

But my birthday will be a Friday this year. So I'll probably die... or something :)

Wow I thought I could be a little OCD at times but I never got worried about tv volume or having an uneven birthday.

    Yes you do.

Maybe it was the lack of sleep that made you mistype it. :pac:

Wow I thought I could be a little OCD at times but I never got worried about tv volume or having an uneven birthday.

It's not really OCD-like tendencies. The birthday thing is usually ok, but the tv volume is just good sense - I don't know how people could willingly leave it on an odd number.

When I was younger, I got it into my head that the number represented the number of decibels. As on most TVs, there is Left and Right sound. Thus, dividing the volume by two would give the decibel output of each speaker. (this is what I thought, it's not necessarily logical). But if it's on an odd number, like 47, then it won't be even in each speaker - as you can't have half a decibel (or so I believed).

With the introduction of surround sound, most commonly in the form of 5.1 surround sound (5 speakers, with one subwoofer), this means the volume should be divided by 5 to get the decibel output to each speaker (the subwoofer doesn't count as a speaker as it's just adding bass), so hence why multiples of 5 are preferable.

    I need help :o

I have to have the volume at a prime number. There's no logic behind it, I just have to have it prime...

The decibel system is logarithmic, so even if anything you just said was true that's not how it'd work

This doesn't really make sense. Usually it's not something that bothers me - although the TV Volume must rest on a multiple of 5, or in the case that one multiple of 5 is too quiet and the next highest is too loud, then it must be an even number. I cringed when my friend put the volume as 43 in his house. I couldn't ask him to change it as it'd be rude, because it's his TV, but I kept thinking about it during the movie. :o

    :eek::eek::eek:

I HATE multiples of five. My TV/MP3 volume can NEVER stop at a multiple of five.

It's people like you who caused the recession, melted the glaciers and killed Princess Di. I hope you can live with yourself.

Why would anybody hate multiples of 5? That's like hating ice cream, or tea - absurdity!

I actually do hate vanilla ice-cream. Chocolate, toffee, strawberry etc. are lovely but vanilla is icky.

And I just don't like the number 5. Don't care about other numbers or whether they're odd or even, but 5 (or any multiple of it) bothers me.

Well, considering I have a genuine fear of bananas, your hate of the number 5 doesn't seem so irrational. Sorry about those glaciers :P

It's been a month since Part One, and Part Two and Part Three were getting lonely, so the nostalgia/regression trip continues!

    These two go together:

    and

I can't remember any of the episodes, but I know I must have seen some of them!

I don't cope apparently. I just lumbered over to my alarm that was across the room and turned it off in my sleep. Only woke up around 16:30.
