slurry spreading

    Just wondering what yer thoughts on when is the best time of yaer to spread slurry? We usually spread it after silage is cut so to have gud grass for grazing but maybe spreading it in march/april mite be a better idea. A ny ideas would be grateful

    Do it now on bare grass, or after grazing on silage fields. You lose a lot of N spreading after 1st cut because air temperatures are higher.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    Spread now and if there's any left in summmer use that, best response is now though

    after silage is hit and miss in a wet year in might be ok, but in a hot dry one it's not worth a sh!t, the best time to spread is Feb/Mar as you'll get better uptake of nitrogen in the slurry but April is too late as slurry tends to dry out and come back in wilt the silage, might be ok if your doing hay but i'd still like to have it out before April.
