Plough - furrow wideners

I changed tractor recently and the new tractor has wider tyres than the old. Although I havent tried it yet, I suspect the new tyres will not fit into the furrow of my 14" KV plough with 3 bodies.

Has anybody any experience using a furrow widener on a plough. I see them listed on KV parts web page but I've never seen them used.
Does it just slice an extra piece of the last furrow? or does it move it accross, or turn it over ???? I dont undestand how it works.

Also are they suitable for ploughing ley ground?
    THanks
