I understand that they are to scrap fas and bring the whole training and employment thing under Dep of Social Welfare. Dep of Social Welfare will be responsible for all agri payments inc. single payment, disadvantage payments and SCWS payments as well as Farm Assist Payments as well as its current duties and the duties of FAS and they plan to bring the duties of community welfare officers into it too. At the moment Social welfare (dep of social protection I think is their new name) are 6 to 8 months behind on unemployment assistance applications and applicants for disability payments, how can he expect to lump the whole ag payment on to them bearing in mind that he wants to get I don't know how many thousand voluntary redundancies from the public sector. Its bullsh1t. Imagine if your SFP was 6 to 8 months late arriving because they didn't have the manpower to process your app in time???

Seeing is believing with these poitical promises. No more than Sinn Feins plan to burn the bondholders, its unlikely to happen in the first 5 years of government anyway.
