You probably can get a refund on the TV.

Having said that it seems it has this capability

    DVB-T, DVB-T (MPEG4-AVC [H.264])

    Will that pick up Saorview?

It should work fine but it might be best to open a thread in the terrestrial forum here . Give the TV make and model number along with your location and you'll get loads of good advice there.

Would it be possible to sign up for this package in Ireland? And then bring the box over to the UK to watch RTÉ on satellite over there?

Should be no problem as long as Sky don't find out.Quite a few expats subscribe to the Irish packages on Sky through an Irish account.€5 a month would be worth it if you lived in England and wanted Irish tv especially coverage of Irish sport such as GAA.

Has anybody here actually got this €5 a month package or know of somebody with it? I don't think it would be something that you could sign up to Deedsie.

I wonder can you just ring sky and order this package?

No. It is offered only when cancelling Sky. And even then it would seem to be in a few select cases. I have cancelled Sky twice and was never offered it.

Word I hear is you need to speak to a supervisor or long term staff member in retentions nowadays, not a frontline bog standard agent. I suspect that the frontline agents handle normal basic sub retentions where they give the more experienced staff the more lucrative Sports HD Sky+ retention calls..

To get the good stuff off sky now, like that package, or half price subs for a year, you actually have to go the whole way and cancel.
They ring up the next day and make you offers, but wont give you such good offers unless they are sure you are going to actually cancel.

Make sure to mention that you are going freesat.

They know now that if they havent contacted you in a day, you've probably ordered a freesat box and its then too late for them to win you back, so now they are moving sooner. They never win anyone back if they wait a month to contact them.
