I'm not sure if this kind of thread has been done before, but with all the
new builds going on atm, (especially since the new SandyBridge chipsets came out) , I was
wondering what are your CPU temperatures like at Idle and under Load?

My CPU Idle temp is 31C
My CPU Load temp is 49C
    (Ambient room temp is 21C)

I have an i5 2500k with Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus CPU Cooler and Asus
P8P67 mainboard. I've not overclocked the CPU yet.

For the CPU load measurement, I am rendering HD footage to MP4 using
HandBrake. Task manager shows the CPU load as 100%.

    What are your temperatures like?

I think if you where to do this should run something for a set period of time on each comp so get an idea of the differences between the two and case's/ fans etc should be mentioned if people where to put up there posts

    Agreed.

Posts should be something similar to below:

    CPU: [brand] [model] @ [speed]
    Cooling: [cooler, fans, case, etc.]
    Idle temperature: [temp]*C
    Load** temperature: [temp]*C

    ** Load: Let's say an hour's worth of Prime95?

I'd post mine, but my computer's down for a refit at the moment.

I'd post mine, but my computer's down for a refit at the moment.

    CPU: Intel I7 930 @ 3.33ghz
Cooling: Apogee Gt with swiftech 240mm rad, 2 xigmatek 140mm fans for the rad 2 120mm fans for moving air around the case, xigmatek utgard case
Idle temperature: 29 if room is 20deg, 35 if room is 30deg
Load** temperature: 42 room is 20deg, 46 if room is 30 and under prime for 1hr is 65 max
I havent overclocked and kept it running it at over 4ghz as I want to get 2 240mm 47mm thick rads to repace the thing 240mm one i have to make sure its fine for that overclock.

Thanks all, yeah, I should have mentioned the case.
I am using the CoolerMaster CM960 II case and the built-in fans.
There are 3 fans in the case; 1 front, 1 back and 1 top fan. I'm using the default fan settings.

So far it looks like my temps are OK which is good news. :)

I'm gonna try that Prime95 program and compare results with that.
    Cheers.

i7 2600k with the retail intel cooler and at stock speeds after playing Crysis Warhead for the past hour or so...
Stuffed into a Zalman Z7 plus case (pile of ****e) with only 2 of the fans plugged in

    tempsyp.jpg

    Idles at around 31-35

    /edit
    After my CPU has been well and truly molested by Prime95;
    temps2.jpg
Time for an aftermarket cooler methinks!

It gets pretty toasty considering it's only running at stock speeds! (edited my post above)
The intel cooler is quite a noisy bastard as well, noticeably louder than the one from my old LGA775 rig... Think my next upgrade will have to be a decent cooler

I cant recommend the noctua nh-d14 enough..Its a bit pricey but if you want to clock the sh!te out of your sandy bridge it would be a good investment...

Its working a treat on my little I5 760 overclocked to 4.2ghz which is a huge O.C for the I5...

Its as quiet as a mouse aswell....
