    Hi,
Just looking for some quick advice, was wondering if anyone has any experience with this or know any information?
I'm looking to return to university after a two year absence, deferred my third and final year in Maynooth due to illness and am looking to apply elsewhere to finish my degree, TCD if possible.
I was 2:1 in Maynooth in History and English and I believe my Leaving Cert results were around the 375/80 mark.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to have applications for a transfer accepted into Trinity?
    Thanks! :)

It's called an advanced applicant in Trinity. You should have it completed for around May June and should be asking for things to happen right now. The official Trinity line (when I transferred from UCD to TCD) was that you need to have completed 2nd year in another institution to get into the beginning of 2nd year in TCD (and same for 3rd year). I applied having completed 1st year and got into 2nd year, but it seems that this was down to the discretion of the department concerned and they gave it the go ahead.(http://www.tcd.ie/Admissions/undergraduate/apply/transferred/from-third-level/)

It is a long process, it took about 4 months from start to finish for me (that was back in 2006) but it was worth it in the end! Best thing to do would be to contact the admissions office, but to also see if you can get talking to someone fairly high up in the department you're looking to get into, this might help with the final decision, as they make the call in the end.

One more thing, you will have to meet the LC entry points requirements of the year group that you are transferring into (i.e Not the current CAO points for that course. It'd be 2009 in your case). This is a must.

Trinity does not do a standardised arts course, two-subject combinations (TSM- Two subject moderatorship) have their own points when combined. Popular combinations drive up the points, and unfortunately english and history combined is one of the most common if not the most full stop- points for it are above 500, I'm not sure by how much. Is UCD an option? You would have enough for arts there.
