i opened and used trodax over a month ago to dose heifers, it says on the bottle to use within 28 days of opening, now i still have more than half the bottle left and was thinking of using it again as i noticed one or two of them starting to cough a we bit again (these heifers are out lyers) do u think it would be safe enough to use it again

Yes i do it all the time, just make sure it's stored in a cool place and protect from frost.

I've used Trodax all along. I've always wondered about this. I normally use one sterile needle to pierce the bottle and I leave it in there until finished injecting. I use another needle or needles then to pierce the cattle. That way a dirty needle never goes into the bottle itself.

I buy mine in a local chemist, and I asked the lady there this year about the 28 days thing. 'Look, even the packaged sterile needles have a reduced, use by date now'. She said to keep doing what I was doing with the sterile needle and cover the tip of the bottle with celotape when finished.

I am going to knock a few months out of mine doing this. Dont know if it is the right thing to do or not. It's expensive enough to be throwing it away after only using a bit.

Stick a needle in the rubber cap. Hold bottle upright. Squeeze from the bottom up until all the air on the top of the bottle is expelled and the liquid is level with the inside of the rubber cap. Hold in that position and withdraw the needle. Pick up a lighted candle which you have alread lit. Pour some melted wax wax on the rubber cap. Wait till set. Release bottle.
Now you have trodax in a sealed container containing no air or foreign bodies of ank kind.
Use it again anytime up to (and beyond within reason) the expiry date.

If they are coughing it's probably worms they have.

    Trodax is for fluke.
