Lag issues xbox 360 Aptus Broadband TP Link Router

hi guys, as you can probably guess from the title i am having serious lag issues with my broadband on my xbox 360 at the moment. i have recently upgraded my internet to Aptus's top package of 5m download and 512k upload. i had the 3m package before and NEVER once did i have an issue with lag on the xbox or any other console. HOWEVER since my upgrade i have had sporadic internet speeds, experienced lag at almost timed intervals and become so frustrated i have contemplated ripping my xbox from the wall. I had a linksys g router before my upgrade and as you know without me telling you they are fantastic. however the g technology is old and i decided to upgrade to the new, N technology. As Aptus have to configure the routers for use with xbox live i asked them for a new linksys N router. they duly obliged and an engineer came out to the house to fit it. however the router was faulty and i was offered a TP Link Router, model TL-WR740N, of which i know very little. i accepted as i need the n router as we have quite a large area to cover. since i have switched to this router i have experienced extreme lag on my xbox for 5-10 seconds in intervals and my connection speeds are all over the place. does anyone know if it could be the router or the internet?? is it possible the router is creating lag by switching the channel every few seconds? on the box it says it uses CCA technology which is supposed to switch channels to avoid conflict with other signals. please help




to show the extent of problem look at the differences in these tests which were all carried out within half an hour!!
