    1. scour vaccines are only as good as your calf's beastings intake, because they work through the beastings. Are they getting enough, in good time?

    2. I wouldn't mind rotavirus coming back in tests. There's probably tonnes of virus in your sheds etc. I would just expect that the vaccine will stop severe scour cases and deaths caused by rotavirus (subject to 1. above)

we do cows with rotavec corona at drying off , must have the injection at least 3 weeks before calving and not more than 14 weeks , calf must get biestings for a week , but we let them have it longer , as it works better for us

so you would recomend it, what about doing the last 50% of the cows as its those calves give the trouble. thanks

its expensive so dont mess with it , you either do it right or not at all... i get a good deal of €185 for 40ml at 2ml per cow .. normally around 200 euro so its €10 euro a shot, what way is your housing maybe clean the sheds out half way through calving

As above, we use RC too and would reccommend its use. It's not a magic wand though, there is no substitute for good animal husbandry/management.
We do the cows usually in groups of 5 to suit the 10ml bottle, depending on calving date.
Why not vacc from the start and make a clean sweep of it. Prevention is better than cure. You won't be long spending €10 on a calf with scour!

We started to use Trivacta 6 vaccine on the cows coming up to calving.

1st time round 2 doses: 3-4 weeks apart last one 3 weeks before calving.

Every year after that: 1 dose 3-4 weeks before calving.

    No problems with scour since.
