Ive just priced 5 different skip companies in Carlow. The only available skip hire companies for this area, and they are all within €5 of each others price. This is €250 for a 7 cubic yard skip. this is considerably more than dublin prices.

Feel like a case of price fixing, or at least price arranging. Thats an expensive price for a small skip, considering we dont have a lot of options

Thats a rip off in fairness. Its price fixing. Thats alot more expensive than skip hires in dublin. A1 waste has a 12 cubic yard skip for €180

Domestic and business refuse collection isn't much better.

There seem to be only two companies competing in the Carlow area and there's very little difference in pricing / service between them

if u had your refuse ready to put in skip while its been dropped it might be cheaper, one trip .........

Can you get a lend of a trailer and bring stuff directly down to the dump in powerstown? every 2 months me and a neighbour head down with a van load and only costs us €35 between us

i rented a big box trailer off a lad in bunclody for €40 for the day and brought it to the dump. i saved a fortune that way. his name was ivan and telephone number is <snip>. might be another option to look at .

MOD EDIT: Please don't post phone numbers publicly.

Why not? Most phone numbers are not private information.

Of course by a van or a similar vehicle, we can save lot of our money as they will cost just 20% of what the skip hiring service providing companies charge.
However, if you are financially sound, I believe we must go for a skip hire in order to contribute our part in saving nature. The skip waste are properly recycled and not just got dumped anywhere.

    WTF??
