My friend got her nose pierced today!

Me on the other hand, the most exciting piercing I ever got was the top of my ear, which I let close up because it never healed properly. I wouldn't get a tattoo if you paid me, too permanent!! :P

Got a lip piercing twice. Would love another one.

I have my nose pierced, and my left nipple:P One tattoo on my lower back - yeah, I know - how very original of me:rolleyes:

Is anyone here into festivals? I love them, they are my favourite thing in the world!! Nothing beats the feeling of getting your tent pitched and then cracking open your first can of the weekend. Hopefully the sun is shining down on you as you sit surrounded by friends and look forward to the music, craic and madness that await's you over the next few days........

    Roll on the summer:)

Tattoos eh? I have 11 hours of ink so far and 12 piercings but only 8 of which I wear jewellery in full time.

Damn it now I want more.

Planning on getting my lip pierced when I turn 18 though, just for the sake of doing something a bit mad! *exciting person right here* :P

I'm about to punch Ebay though. All I want to do is pay you sellers fees, why won't you let me?:mad:

OMG festivals are my worst nightmare! I love my comforts (read: I'm a wuss who doesn't cope well with being in any way uncomfortable) - expensive hotels, amazing food, proper beds! I'll also never go backpacking!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,252 ✭✭✭Dr. Baltar

Have yet to do the whole festival thing but I absolutely love finding a random spot in the country and camping t here with friends. Few cans, bit of craic. It's a great laugh!

I also love concerts! I think seeing Alice and Chains & Metallica when I was 16 is one of my best memories. =D

Camping + Music. Hmmmm.... Maybe I should really do the whole festival thing.

I was going to rant on for ages. In fact I had it typed. Instead,

Yes I don't know you, and yes I should understand, but no, **** you and how you make her feel. You are selfish and you need to wise up and realise your daughter needs a mother, not to be a parent of her own parent.

    Anyway. Working sundays sucks.

I am very grateful, not grateful however that somebody who never looks for anything from anybody came looking to me for help and I could do nothing as I'm here

I have no piercings (besides ears) or tattoos but it's more to do with lack of money than not wanting them. Either getting a tongue piercing or tattoo for my birthday. Can't decide which I want more. Either way my parents will not be happy.

What age are you? As someone who has a lot of tattoos I'd say think long and hard about what you want and possibly get a henna one first just to see if you like it. So many people regret their first one even if they love the rest.

I always advise putting the picture of your first tattoo beside you bed and looking at it every single day for 6 months. If you still want it, then go for it - from then on, you'll know the feeling of 'yeah, that's IT' and how different it is to the impulsive 'yeah let's do it NOW wooooo hooooo!!'

    I'm eighteen, nineteen in March.

I know people who have ended up regretting tattoos so this isn't something I'm entering into lightly. There are several tattoos I want but the oen I've picked to get first is the one I've wanted longest and has the most meaning to me. I'm still not sure if I'll get it for my birthday since it'll be expensive and although I'll have more money than normal there are a few different things I want to get with it. I'm currently taking Jean's advice up until my birthday and if I don't end up getting it then I'll go the full six months. Thanks for your advice guys. :)

The parents not being happy comment was because they hate all tattoos and my mum hates tognue piercigns after reading a horror story about them.

Piercings can be removed easily but a tattoo is for life (well, there's tattoo removal methods I guess, but that would probably involve lots of pain and lots of scarring)

I love the idea of getting a tattoo but there's nothing in particular that I really really want, and I wouldn't get one just for the sake of having one because if you do that you're more likely to end up regretting it later.

I wanted to get my eyebrow pierced when I was a teenager. A little part of me still wants to do it. But anytime I brought the issue up with my family, they said "It won't suit you. You'll just look like a knacker" (knacker meaning scumbag, not traveller....their words, not mine!) So that kinda put me off it.

I know a good few people with tongue piercings but I've heard horror stories too. It's certainly not for the faint hearted!

Full view of may favorite tattoo and partial view of some of the others. The latin means faith, trust & struggle and it symbolises the struggle to find faith (not religion) and the persecution of those beliefs in modern society. Took six months to put it together as a visual image and 5 hours under the needle to put it there but I quite like it :D

I'd take a tattoo over a piercing any day. Ive had mates who've gotten peircings and the ****in things start going septic in most cases put me right off them:( got an angel on my left bicep, got it done december '04 in celestial ringin middle abbey st (gone now)- hurt for the first hour when i was getting it done, got used to it then. the chap who was doing it was dead sound, gave me €40 off so it ended up costing me only€110. had to wash it twice a day, smear skin lotion on it+ wrap it in clingfilm for 2 weeks afterwards and it turned out beautifully. still proud of it to this day!:)

Anyway, keeping in the spirit of the thread, how about this for a hungover sunday afternoon tune? :D

ew that shouldn't happen, did your friends not do proper aftercare, or were they pierced in some dodgy place? *cough*George'sstreetarcade*ahem*

they don't go septic in most cases at all.

Not attempting to derail the current thread of conversation, I've decided to post a video that has seeminglessly chilled me out to no end despite all my goings on at the moment. So kids, I hope it chills you all out and puts a grin a your face that's as big as mine right now :)

There was my mistake right there with my ear....but it was so cheap. €6 for a cartilage piercing! I mean maybe the guy doing the piercings shouldn't have been handling the money and opening doors wearing the gloves he was using for piercing, but **** it if I'm paying €30 to do it somewhere else.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,905 ✭✭✭Aard

Yeah... other than being a false economy, George's St Arcade is just dangeous.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,944 ✭✭✭✭Links234

I'd far rather go somewhere reputable and pay that much extra than risk complications, and although it doesn't often happen, some of the the things that can go wrong from an infection is unbelievable and just not worth the risk.

I'll shell out 50 quid for a piercing from a person who knows what they're doing, rather than some clown with a gun and 10 minutes training.

    They use guns? Lol.

(Hmm... maybe it's time for the Body Modification and Appropriate Piercing Instruments Bill...)

reading over on the tattoos and piercings forum about the place, it gives me nightmares, supposedly they used guns for bellybutton, tongue, nipples, eyebrows.

even just getting lobes done, I'd go to a professional piercer.

I'm a fan of piercings, and most of the time you won't have any problems, but there are some dodgy places out there. and remember proper aftercare, like your piercer advises you to do!
