Maybe this is one for you Watty:)

I have a Hitachi Worldspace as per

    hitachi_worldspace_receiver.jpg

Its lying idle as Worldspace is gone, would there be anyway of retuning it to the Ku Band for the Astra 2 radio stations?

    Any possibilities would be welcome.:)

    Worldspace doesn't use DVB-S.

    A doorstop!

Apogee, as per usual, squarely hitting nails on heads

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WorldSpace

It's L-Band frequency (1452-1492 MHz range). Completely different system to DVB-s so an LNB won't work to make it use Ku.

Nothing doing with it. I nearly bought one once, but by then most of it was subscription only, so I didn't bother.

A nice idea as alternative to Shortwave Broadcast. But radios too expensive for "3rd World"

When did they pack it in? I thought last year anyway, still running?

Any new European service will be a different and incompatible system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ETSI_Satellite_Digital_Radio
I can't see ETSI SDR working. Sirius XM is also a financial failure, So is DAB.

I'm happy to dismember it for interesting parts ;)
