Sporting Fingal will host a pre-season supporters meeting at the club’s head office in Newtown House in Balheary, Swords next Monday, January 17 at 7.30pm.

    Might just be worth attending.

Very interesting tonight. Nice to hear direct info from the club.

So much looking forward to the new season now.

The only new signing confirmed was Greg Bolger.

Again, same talk about Ronan and Shaun Williams, and how well they did on their trials.

    To sum it up -

Financial backing has been secured, and more talks are ongoing to secure more. This will include sponsorship plus a new club chairman. The club has no outstanding debt - all bills have been paid, and all players have been paid on schedule.

First day of real pre-season started today. 12 players trained (Conan Byrne was out sick). Talks are ongoing with a number of other players, now that finance is sorted. Liam hopes to have a first team squad of 20 or so.

John Devine won't be with the club this season. There have been major cutbacks, due to the finances.

Dalymount was discussed. There were a number of reasons for moving, but mainly due to Morton being owned by Athletics Ireland and being limited on when the facility could be used by the club.

The club needs people to encourage more people to attend games. We really need to grow the fan base, especially with the price reduction on tickets, and the special offers for the season tickets. The supporters club plan to run a bus (or two) from Swords to the home games. Season tickets should be available in 2-3 weeks time.

The new website should launch very soon.

The meeting went from 7:30 until roughly 10pm. Plenty was discussed.

Very nice. Ill go throw that lark about finances in my Dads face now. He's been fairly confident that SFFC was about to go under thanks to him knowing Joe Corr personally.

And, Colin Hawkins has re-signed for the season. That's great news.

    Lads,

Where will the supporters bus leave form. Is it Rivervalley. Also would anyone know what the cost will be to availa of this for the season and will buses be put on for away games?

I think they said Rivervalley, and then via Swords main street.

Not sure about costs, etc. But contact the supporters club for full details. Someone here is bound to have their contact details.

Good news that the club are still in business and its sounds like they are reasonably well run. But a long term business plan depends on growing the supporter base in Fingal - which will very difficult if they don't play their home games in Fingal.

What facilities are there in Fingal? How many LOI licensed venues are there to select from?

As was outlined, there are plans for a facility just outside Swords, as well as the facilities planned for Lusk. Both have planning permission approved, but require finances to build. In this climate, no one has the money to build them.

Morton can't be used for a number of reasons - not enough seats to qualify for a premier division license, restricted dates of availability due to Athletics Ireland, etc.

The fans have to make the best of the situation, and support the team, until such time as the funds are available to build.

Why are the going to the expense of launching a new website? I thought the problem with the old website was like alot of sites online that they lost interest after a couple of months and didn't update. Seems like a needless expense.

Because the new site will cost less to run and administer, and will also look a hell of a lot better than the current site. The website should be the first source of information about the club, unlike the current site has been.

The lack of updated information was not due to a lack of interest.

No idea, but I wouldn't care, if it's saving money for the club. More money on players and less on a website.

Usually leaves from the community center in Rivervalley. Cost depends on the numbers traveling. I heard some say it was a €5 for one of the trips last year but again the costs might change. Buses went to most away games last year. They even flew to Galway once :) . Im sure someone will announce any details a week or so before a game.

Kirby has signed a 1 year deal with Sligo Rovers. Pity to see him go, best of luck to him.
