How exactly do I use the following programme...?

    http://www.memtest.org/

So basically, as Starcraft 2 keeps crashing to my desktop in-game with 'violation errors' on my XPS M1530, I decided to do a memory test as many have advised. Basically, I have uploaded memtest to my memory stick in my USB (I have no driver, so can't use disks or a floppy) and now I don't know what to do? How do I boot it? I re-started it and nothing happened, I opened the USB up and tried to open the contents and nothing happened...what do I do? I know its something simply, but not sure what exactly.

What version did you download? You'll have to make the usb stick bootable for it to work.

Ive not used the USB version so im not sure the steps involved in actually making the bootable USB stick. It'll certainly involve more than just copying something to USB, normally there'll be an application that makes the bootable USB drive.

Once the bootable USB is ready, you need to boot from it. Go into your BIOS (press a particular key during bootup, usually it'll prompt you which one) and check the boot order. You want to put USB devices above the hard-drive.

Then restart the computer with the USB stick inserted. Memtest should run automatically.

Alternatively (if you cant change the boot order), there should be a key for a one-time boot menu. Maybe F12, I cant recall for sure but google should tell you.

    memtest86+-4.10.usb.installer

It said I was ready to boot.

This only seems to work for floppys and discs...?

I doubt its your memory, I googled the error for sc2 and it seems rather common.

    Thanks, this worked perfectly. ;)

Yeah, no one seems to know what the problem is, but many suggested a memtest. I really have no other options, re-installing didn't solve anything.
