if making people quit within 30 seconds of a game as the hacker has already got a pavelow in by just pressing the fire button a few times then its working, games been ruined forever, thank christ Dead Space and Killzone 3 are out soon, should get me online action from them

My mate mailed one of the hackers yesterday, and asked him how he did it. He replied, "have you got paypal."
    Mate : What's paypal!

A bit pointless doing that just to get reactions IMO. Can they not just play the game and enjoy a bit of decent fun?
obviously not, that's their kick ! like team killers, they do it for reactions

Yeah i got this too. I was playing afghan, and all of a sudden it froze, and in the middle of the screen it started saying 'challenges 10/100, 20/100' and so on. Then i got kicked, and noticed i had unlocked everything. People are now messaging me saying why have you cheated, and can i have the cheat, or show me how to hack, and i dont have a clue how it happened. Kind of annoying, i was doing so well - (3rd prestige.) Why even bother playing a game if your jhuust going to cheat and ruin it for others. Grrrr.

I've seen hackers on PS3 MW2 before - guys with no rank beside their names, and hitting instantaneous headshots blind through walls from across the map, etc. But the past few days have been horrible. It seems every muppet wants to devolve the game to some shoddy challenge lobby. On Sunday I was in a game, all going normally, then about 7 minutes in I see "All stars reset" come up on my screen and only then realised it was a hacked lobby. Disconnected immediately, but all my weapon attachments/challenges/stats were wiped, though my rank wasn't affected by that.

I used to play on PC way back when, but thought consoles would be better to get away from aimbots etc. I never saw anything like this situation though.

A few people on my friends list run challenge lobbies (I don't condone this) - so after I was screwed over I asked about the lobbies for the first time. It couldn't put my stats back to what they were with any degree of accuracy so I left it.

But I took a look at some of the novelty modes these guys had running - you can have gun game from Blops but in MW2, and there's hide and seek and a zombies versus humans game. Which just makes it all the worse when you think about how these games have been designed.

I went into a game of zombies, and all the players were outside of the normal boundary of the Karachi and Terminal maps. How much power do you have to give the host in a networked game? I was playing on a modified version of a map, something I would have swore blind wasn't on the MW2 disk I own. It's only like the difference between a map on SnD and on domination - adding flags and puting a few containers in. Still, it's preposterous, and after 10 minutes the novelty wears off and it's just the badly made mess you'd suppose it would be. But it's still novel enough that every dip**** teenager who gets his kicks from pissing people off will do his damnedest to get it into public games.

TDM Express is usually untouched, annoying that the tactical games are wrecked though, miss playing Sabotage and Demo :(

I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt bother patching it up.

Why would they? games out, sold, new COD is being played,IW is gone, Activision dont give a fcuk. such a pity, if there were dedicated servers this wouldnt happen, or a lot less at least, but noooo, they have to be money grabbing fcukers as usual. The idea they want to charge specifically for playing COD online is a joke, why would you with a p2p system?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,210 ✭✭✭hightower1

Yea im pritty much done with the CoD franchise, Doubt ill be buying DLC. They can get fcuked after black flops. Activision publish a faulty game, Wont see another cent from me. Lookin forward to seein what Homefront is like in March.

    *Dedicated servers.

Been playing MW2 consistanlty on ground war, dom and mtdm and havent come accross a single modded lobby since black ops or ever in fact.

Seems like the ps3 is officially busted with the jailbreak..... xbox ftw! :D
I can see where the devs are coming from, why try keep plugging holes in the dam like mad men when the river behind is the issue. Fix the ps3 and you fix the hacks. Fox the hacks and your still gonna get more on the busted ps3 platform.

I got offered E4.50 cash for MW2 in Gamestop. Good lord.... Really reflects the state of the game.

not really, games that sell billions of copies get sfa trade in value, your cod's fifas, wwe games etc. I never trade in games, would rather keep it and replay it at some stage, knowing me i'd only wind up buying it again :pac:

Hardly the PS3's fault that they released an inferior game on their console. As for the hacking, and jailbreak ****e... its unfortunate. Sony will have to work with the developers to keep online games secure, i think the only way they can solve this problem is by releasing new hardware, The PS4 may not be that far away because of this.

On the grand scale of things i dont think it will impact sonys sales as much as some think tho, the xbox has been a haven for piracy since its release almost but it continues to set records.

Im sure activision would love nothing more than to shut down the PSN servers and blame sony for the half job they did on the port tho. It wont happen.

so what happens if they do shut down the PSN servers? they've essentially removed half the reason, well probably the whole reason, people play Blops

eh ? If they shut down the PS3 servers no1 will beable to play blops. It would essientally become a single player game.

yeah i get that lol, i mean wouldnt activision just get sued for not providing what they promised with the game, online multiplayer is the main reason to play cod, take that away and they've sold a product that no longer functions, its grounds to get refunds from them for a game that no longer works the way its meant to, its one thing shutting down a server for a game thats been out donkeys years and has tiny amount of players, Blops is the biggest online game around at the mo (probably)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,127 ✭✭✭✭Leeg17

Says in the load of menu for Mw2 and I'm sure Blops that they can discontinue the service because of
    1. Lack of interest/players
    2. Economic reasons
    3. They feel like it basically.

Yes, they're a crafty bunch alright...

still though, if they do shut down the ps3 servers they've essential lost millions in revenue from future ps3 gamers, people will just buy xboxes so they can play future COD games online.

although...maybe thats the idea *tinfoil hat time*

microsoft are sitting in their hollowed out volcano base chuckling to themselves as their dastardly scheme coming to fruition..

ahh, soz read your post wrong :D

But yeah they'd never get away with it. I just hope that all this hacking bull**** going on in MW2 and MW1 doesnt make its way into black ops.

I was only sayin in another post how easy it was to anticipate a hacked lobby spinnin skulls, clantags etc but over the last couple of days it really has gotten bad,I was on my 9th prestige level 61,over the space of 3 games I'm now level 10th level 70 with everthing unlocked without personally doing anything but getting dropped into these lobbies.I then set up a new account and started again, after 1 night game time 2hrs 26m,8 wins 20 losses, kills 50147 deaths 332,oh and I'm 5th prestige with everything unlocked again,I could have easily gotten to 10th if I hadn't went to bed!! I'm now giving spec ops another go to stay away from multiplayer for a while.

That guy in the videos gives a great point, Activision are making money on a broken game I know us gamers consider MW2 as "broken" in the sense of unfair perks and nooby tactics and stuff like that, but now its actually broken. The multiplayer doesnt work in the way you want thanks to these dickless hackers who have ruined a fantastic online experience in MW1 and 2, all jabs about which COD is better aside, they're fun to play online, simple as, and its 99% of the reason to buy a COD game, I've played the SP of MW1 three times, twice on 360 once all the way through on PS3, MW2 the same, and Blops once with no intention of ever playing it again tbh. Its the multiplayer you buy it for, and now Activision are misadvertising a product. I full expect someone will file a class action lawsuit against them for it, and someone would have a very good case against them I'd reckon.

It's all part of the plan of bringing a Monthly/Annual fee for playing COD*online. They'll "fix" the hacks etc, and then charge us for a hack free online experience .

then its byebye COD for me, not paying to play it, I'll pay for xbox live if you dont have to pay separately for COD, but no way am i paying a monthly fee to play a game thats been free all this time

    It's ok. God has spoken.

Btw Activison have denied they are pulling the plug on PS3 servers. It was all a misunderstanding apparently.

Joined a lobby where there was unlimited ammo, noobtubes etc.

When I was finished, all my weapons were stripped of attachments and my pro perks all reset.

    sound....

So many hacked lobbies tonight :( Was in one and the hacker had a God mode on. Couldn't kill him! Then in another, some hacker was shooting through walls with a gold desert eagle racking up kills! Im so fed up with it at this stage. Only had maybe 3 out of 7 games unhacked.Oh and if you want to know who is a hacker, at the lobby were all the players names are, scroll over the names and look at where their clan tags would be. A hacker almost always a tag that says 'unbound' and it isn't surrounded by [ ] so keep and eye out for that.

On the pre-game lobby screen you'll notice a few different clan tags which are set by hacks. I've seen:

@] -- this clan tag will be read as unbound on in-game text, ie "unboundplayer killed [clan]fairplayingvictim".
    [%%%%]
    [<3]

and I there's another one that is like [DT], it might have a } in it, can't remember exactly.

    @].

When my stats got reset, my clantag was set to [C*NT] (unasterisked obviously), so the tags can sometimes mark people as the victims of hacked lobbies rather than perpetrators - but still, best avoided.

I think this is predominantly a PS3 issue due to the way this console can be adjusted more easily. I'm still playing MW2 on 360 and haven't noticed any isses at all. (all though I'm sure it does go on.)

Shame really but MW2 has become a victim of it's own success and it's continued addictive playability risks damaging future game sales. I think it is no coincidence that IW dont rush to fix this. Even if they wanted to there would be several grey suited gents holding them back. I'd usually buy a game a month but haven't bought one for 8 months because of this game! I'd say the gaming industry hates it and the sound of it and wish it wuld just die and become a fond memory.

I didn't realise they were hack tags also. I forgot to mention: I was thrown straight into a game in which a few hackers were playing. After a short while they left the game. I got a PSN message from one of them so i open it and this is what it said: "4 pound for a weeks access to my Mod menu (hack menu in other words). 10 pound for access anytime. You wont find a better deal". They have a neck to be cheating and now they're trying to capitalise on it FFS!
