    Hi

Has anybody heard of www.converseireland.ie scamming? Not to be mistaken with converse.ie.

Ordered runners three weeks ago tomorrow. Emailed (only contact method available, no phone contact or address on site) them yesterday asking where the order was and they reply today, a Sunday, saying sorry they are out of stock, please pick another pair and let us know the order number.

This email came from a gmail account. So unprofessionally written and it's stinks of a scam or a Chinese/Asian person selling fakes.

I have asked for a refund and I am awaiting a return email now.

There isn't, and doesn't appear to ever have been, a converseireland.ie website. There is however a converseireland.com, which is Chinese, and most likely at best is selling knock offs, or worst, it's a scam.

Always do a WhoIs lookup on any website that you're unfamiliar with.

    converseireland.com looks like a knock-off site.

    Check out 419eater.com

They are scam baiters and they record all that they do and how they waste these scammers time, well worth checking out too. Some of the storys look ridiculous, but the scammers are totally ruthless, so don't feel sorry for them at all. They would have no hesitation in taking every penny you have, and if you were in their neck of the woods they'd take your life too.

Be aware of the content of an email, NEVER click links, and remember if it looks too good to be true, it IS!

Hate to tell you but you've been scammed! I hope at the very least you didn't use a credit card to pay for them. At least with paypal even if you don't get your money back, they don't have your details... Even if you do get what you ordered, chances are they are gonna be knock offs!

So after hearing again from them in the 20th Dec to say that they would refund the next day and will appear on account within 6 days, nothing still. Rang MBNA and they said they will refund providing we send them all emails and replies which we have.

Luckily, touch wood, nothing else has been purchased with card details.

At least MBNA know what they should be looking out for! That was a good move keeping all the correspondence. It's still sh1te though! When you order something you want it. Even if you get your money back it's just disappointing.

You're lucky it worked out in the end, you read all sorts of stuff about these sites ripping people off left right and centre!

This seller conned me out of around €50 + P&P costs of returning their faulty item to the UK, I bought this item from eBay seller uk-choice http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270733337542&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Long story short, the PS3 Bluray Laser worked only for a couple of hours. I lodged a complaint with PayPal immediately to claim my money back and went through the whole process of returning the item, only for PayPal to find in favor of uk-choice after they claimed I did not return the faulty item, the following tracking information shows the item was delivered http://track.anpost.ie/track/track.asp?track=RL308485127IE&company=S&lettFrames=&qualifier=dsi&SenderNo=

Seems to be a case of their word against mine, I now know full well that if a seller denies receiving the returned item even with proof of delivery PayPal will always find in favor of the seller, harsh lesson learned.

PayPal's official statement on closing the case in favor of the seller:
We have concluded our investigation into the following claim:

    Seller's Name: Mobispares
    Seller's Email: mobispares-no-reply@ukmobi.co.uk
    Seller's Transaction ID: 0SF88861XC229825V

    Transaction Date: Apr 11, 2011
    Transaction Amount: -45.61 GBP
    Your Transaction ID: 5CD14781T17009419
    Case Number: PP-001-282-298-912

    Buyer's Transaction ID: 5CD14781T17009419

The tracking information you provided was invalid and we were unable to
confirm delivery of the item associated with this claim. As a result, the
case is now considered closed and we are unable to process a refund.

We encourage you to work directly with the seller to find a resolution.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Protection Services Department
My only recourse now is to leave negative feedback on uk-choice's profile, but a mere 80 character sentence isn't enough to express my anger in this situtation, I have emailed PayPal to appeal this decision in hope of recovering my money I will update this thread should they overturn this injustice. On another note the seller also goes by the name of Mobispares avoid like the plague!

Nope PayPal ruled in favor of this joker took it as a lesson learned and found a much better supplier on eBay, funnily enough the package arrived back at my door just recently so either Royal Mail screwed up somewhere or the seller refused to sign for the package.

I had stuff for sale on Gumtree and got responses looking to buy "the item" and that's without even seeing it!
If someone is looking for your details, beware, we all know that.
Also, I would never have anything to do with Western Union.
One person who replied to another ad wanted me to set up a Paypal account, so he could lodge money into it for me. Yeh, right.
Now, the latest is "Two Tea Cup Yorkies" free to good home. Reply to the email address on the big ad and you will be asked for money to help with transport costs, as the puppies are with their owner in Africa and it's too hot for them and he has no money as he is doing charity work out there blah blah blah ...
The bottom line is BEWARE, and don't give out details. If you want some fun, use a new email address, strike up a rapport, haggle over price, etc ... then send 100s of emails to their address. This can easily be done by copying their address a few times and pasting into the "to" the "cc" and the "bcc" You could also send a picture, that takes up space, and clogs their mailbox.

I have had a couple of very convincing emails claiming to be from Amazon recently, but on close inspection (quite apart from the fact that they are looking for me to connect to a doubtful looking link) the spelling and grammar are just a bit dodgy. The latest one is from Amazon.com <Account-update@amazon.com> I have tried on both occasions to forward it (as requested by Amazon) to their 'stop spoofing' address but their system will not accept emails, even when all links etc have been removed. The first time it was claimed that the email had abusive content (the spoof email was very courteous, there was nothing remotely abusive) this time it is just not being delivered to the c&p email address they provide.

So, there are convincing emails using amazon logos and real looking addresses, but Amazon.com are not interested in making their system work.
