UPC box restarting several times per day

Hi, i have the basic "grey" Upc box, and lately it has been restarting several times a day, and ofcourse in the middle of some interesting tv-show...

The lights turn in to orange, and after approx 1 minute the light turns green again, and box starts operating normally. But yesterday this happened like 3 times within 30 minutes.

First i thought that it might be some kind of update that was forced to the box, but dont they usually do that at night time etc? This was 8pm.

Box shutdown happens 3-5 times per week.

Should i call UPC, or is this normal behaviour?

Doesn't sound normal to me. If UPC consider it normal, I'd be looking for another provider.

Call UPC and get them to have a Technician look at it, just note if they need to replace it an it is a + box you will lose all of your recoreded programmes.

My silver digital+ box started doing this once, caught in an infinite s/w update loop. Box was replaced, and no problems since.

I have similar problem with my UPC box (silver or grey it looks). In the afternoon and evening time there is "loss of signal" very often and box restarting. I called technician and they were twice to check what kind of problem is. First time, week ago, the man said upgrade should be done and he did it( I said nothing but box is upgrading every day). Nothing changed. Today another technician came, I explained what the problem is and he was looking like a person who knows what to do. He said that the same problem was in my area and installed some kind of filter. He left and about 20 minutes later I could see "loss of signal" again. I have no idea how to explain what is going on to the technician or maybe they do not know how to fix it.
I think I change provider and I have to check Sky.If they do not know how to fix it probably they will lose

If this is the 'old' 'big' silver/grey box then there is a known issue since the software upgrade in October - the stb simply cannot handle the new software and ultimately you need a new stb if you want to avoid the issues mentioned above.
