I don't think it will be shown on RTE TV. I think they are only streaming it on RTE live. Sky News will be broadcasting it live apparently. Good to see our TV license money is being well spent

Fair enough, where did you see that?

Conference time changed to 5pm apparently.

For what its worth (which is not very much), Martin Mansergh has issued a statement supporting Cowen's leadership.
Mansergh is another of those Irish politicians that makes you think that the barrel they were scraping the bottom of was a particularly poor one.

That says its on RTE.ie not RTE 1. It is still showing Joe Duffys Spirit Level (whatever the hell that is?).

I notice that Network2 is showing Tora Tora Tora followed by surviving disaster ;)

Sky News are giving notice of the press conference on their 'breaking news' ticker, maybe they know something we don't? Says Cowen will be making a statement regarding his political future.

Nothing Cowen announces at 5pm will undo the damage he and he cronies have inflicted upon the country.

My hope is that he will do the honourable thing, resign and call a general election. Unfortunately I highly doubt this will be the case.

What angers me is the fact that all Cowen's previous statements in relation to this leadership challenge have focused on "the best interests of the party".

He is Taoiseach and should be acting in the best interests of the country!

If Cowen fails to resign my hope would be the Green party would grow a pair and finally pull out of government. This hope is probably in fantasy land too.

I applaud Cowens decision to wait until half time of the match to make his announcement. Save me flicking through the stations.

The only interest Clowen has is his own. If he was putting the country first he would have called an election ages ago. If he was putting his party first he would have resigned ages ago. If he doesn't resign he will have to sack Martin and Hannifan - which will lead to a leadership challenge which will totally divide FF weeks before an election. The man has no shame or integrity and has surely got to be one of the most selfish and stubborn politicians in history.

Cowen will have to sack Martin now and maybe Hanafin.

Well if what the BBC are saying is true then we are watching the start of the end for FF. He has to take action against Martin and Hanafin and others. That should kick off a leadership challenge damaging them even more.

Wouldn't surprise me if FF now claim that both Martin and Hanafin had full confidence in Cowen and it was merely media speculation.

If he sacks either or both of them then they will have to mount a challenge, which is something that is most certainly not in the interest of the party. What would be is Cowen stepping aside. If Martin doesn't challenge Cowen now his career is deeply damaged.
