Um, so like, where is it being held, I don't know my way round Dublin, know a few streets

Also do I need to bring my own PC or anything?

What's the etiquette and stuff of the whole thing (apart from my usual instinct to be a super cool guy (naw jk))

I'm thinking for the tournament, it's do what ever it takes to win. But don't expect many friends if you win by only 6 pooling :)

Think it's in liffey street, right about here

1> all nighter or day time hours?
Dont care. I'll show up anyway.

2> do you want other games involved?
In tournament? No. Just for fun - ofc.

3> how long do you want to be there for?
As long as Im not the last person staying there xD I am ashamed to admit I have experience of playing 17 hours straight.

4> How will you be travelling?
I think I can just walk there. Looks really close.

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Dublin.

    6> any extra thoughts?
So nice to see its finally happening =)

    Sounds good!

EDIT : OMG, when I said I knew few places in Dublin it was because at some weekends, I regularly travel to attend offline meetups (I guess similar to LANs), to play Fighting Games http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1204

And lol, it's the same place where we go to play! And also the next day there is a tournament so I will literally be there anyway lol

    This is good

Are you sure they will let you all nighter? We were going to do something along the same lines and they were going to let us, as long as someone was there to supervise.

I played then when they had the beta, it was ok, but have they gotten the real copies in since? (you really might want to check this out, it was beta with a loader to play AI when I played , about 3 months ago?). They have a new starcraft 2 promo stand in there now so maybe they did

I could be wrong but I'm 999999.9% sure it's the same place, based on the map, it's called the Xtreme Gaming Centre/Cafe? (never knew what the names was since we always say XGC lol)

If this is true, they have basic Dell PCs, runs game on low-low *just how I like it anyway lol*, nothing higher since I tried heh

Please tell me if it is a different place, but I'm pretty damn sure I'm right..

GAH! That's the weekend of Warpcon in Cork

For market research reasons, I'll fill in my answers anyway, but I can't attend if it's that date :(

1> all nighter or day time hours?

    All night.

2> do you want other games involved?

Something fun like Quake Live or Teeworlds to keep us amused whilst waiting for games we're not watching to finish.

3> how long do you want to be there for?

Until the bitter end! 10+ hours is fine with me.

4> How will you be travelling?

    Walking

5> Where are you travelling from?

    James St

    6> any extra thoughts?

Even though it looks like I won't be able to make it, I hope we could make this into a regular meet up in the same way the fighting games guys do :) Also, the ability to bring food & drink into the venue would be a big positive if they allow it.

any idea the cost of this, if it is an all nighter?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,848 ✭✭✭✭Zombrex

1> all nighter or day time hours?
All nighter though I may crash about 3am and retire to bed.

2> do you want other games involved?
Don't mind. Always up for a game of TF2.

3> how long do you want to be there for?
See the crashing part above :)

4> How will you be travelling?
If it is in Dublin center, then walking

5> Where are you travelling from?
If it is in Dublin center, not far

    6> any extra thoughts?
Do you have any idea of the quality level of people so far entering? I'm bronze league SC2, having only playing for a few weeks and never played SC1, so I'm technically called a noob. Spending the entire night playing Plat or Dimond players may be educational but it would be nice to have a few games I might actually win :pac:

Ok, small update. i tried to call today, but the person i spoke to was well.. lets say foreign? and hard to understand.

as for the other questions so far,

the level of competition will range from bronze to diamond.
We will try to make it as fair as possible, and maybe even split the tournament in 2.

    pro mode

    non pro mode

more updates to come as soon as i speak to them.

i think it will be cool enough if we can 18 people there :D

1> all nighter or day time hours?
    i am good with both

2> do you want other games involved?
no. but some dota games would be good!

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    10+ hours

4> How will you be travelling?
    bus.

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Dublin

    6> any extra thoughts?
would be best if the location is cozy and considerably clean, can get drink(eg coffee) easily/fridge can store my beers :P

if this goes well we can do it every month!

Ok, finally spoke to the manager of 5 Star Internet Cafe in Dublin today.

He has his usual internet cafe, but he says they wont be suitable for gaming on.

However, he has a gaming cafe available, and it has space for 18 people.

However, he cannot open it to us until 10PM.

We can game as long as we want.

for the 12 hour block, he wants €250 in total.

So that will be divided between the number of people we arrange to attend.

We can bring our own mice and keyboards and headsets, HOWEVER, they have decent ones already there.

We can order in food, and he also sells light food and drinks there.

No alcohol permitted due to the cost of the machines.

I asked him about the computers available, but he wouldnt give me a full techincal breakdown.
He said all computers have a 24" HD monitor, less than 1 year old graphics card, capable of playing *most* modern games at high - very high standards.

So, in light of the new information,

Please respond to me and tell me if you are going to go or not.

I will then PM you and get a contact number etc in case of any changes etc, and if you want you can pay for it now rather than on the night.

However, IF you do say you are going, then im going to assume you are 100% attending ( excluding any emergencies or family crisis etc ) and it would be appreciated if you paid regardless as once we get final numbers, the cost will be split, and if people drop out, then i will be left paying the rest.

So DO NOT tell me you are going unless you are 100% sure you are going.

so i suggest we order in some pizza etc that night aswel. most it should cost is €5 - €6 each for that. light food and drinks, up to yourself.

If anyone needs help arranging transportation, let me know and i can try arrange something.

I will be in dublin around 8pm and i can fit 4 plus me if people need to be collected from bus stations etc.

    regards,
    RM.

250/18 = 14€ each, if people bring their own to make it 25 peeps, that's €10 each.
