I'll only compete if there's some sort of prize for "most queens".

Queens can be good play. I think DiMaga uses lots of queens early on to allow him to macro up.......

So was in the 5 star cafe today. In broken english i found out that he has 18 machines with (or that can run) starcraft II,
But i don't think i'll be able to organise much for this tourney beyond this, gotta sort out a lotta life stuff. Girlfriend stuff, exams, jobs and moving out. Lotta hassle.

So anyone wanna take it from here?

The guy in 5 star says that the place on liffey street is an extension of their cafe.
They don't normally open for 24 hours, but if you book in advance, they will keep the place open for a lan party.
He asked me to get him the number of players and the date that we want the venue, and then he'll quote me a deposit price, which wouldn't be too much i think, prob a tenner each i'm guessing.

I'd love to go, as long as it's on after my last exam (20th of January) and there's no skill requirement. I'm pretty useless.. :(

I'd be up for this if free. I'm not very good at SC2 though so I would hope for a kind format so that everyone gets a few games - long and expensive way from Limerick!

    🤪

If that was the case if would probably be all "And now he is throwing down..wait...wait...oh, oh no"

    And

"I'm not a fan of that strategy"

    I love Day9 :D

Hi guys, organising this LAN, so lets get some input from everyone on it.

I was thinking of Friday 28th of janurary.

    Please answer the questions below.

1> all nighter or day time hours?

2> do you want other games involved?

3> how long do you want to be there for?

4> How will you be travelling?

5> Where are you travelling from?

    6> any extra thoughts?

The answers will help us organise it for everyone to be able to attend.

1> all nighter or day time hours?
    All nighter

2> do you want other games involved?
If others do then ill play some css. but prefer sc2 only.

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    10 hours +

4> How will you be travelling?
    driving

5> Where are you travelling from?
    tipperary

    6> any extra thoughts?
    we should order pizza :p

1> all nighter or day time hours?
All nighter!! Probably wouldn't go if it were a daytime thing tbh, I don't really like the idea of having to sort a hostel, or trying to get home late in the evening. Wouldn't mind if I had a spin, but I doubt I can get a spin.

It's times like this I wish I'd learned how to drive :)

2> do you want other games involved?
I'm only interested in SC2, but if there are other games to be played I'll play them, badly :)

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    At least 10 hours

4> How will you be travelling?
Bus or train I guess, whichever's cheaper and most convenient.

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Bandon, West Cork

    6> any extra thoughts?
    I second the pizza idea.

1> all nighter or day time hours?
All nighter or on a Saturday afternoon into the night

2> do you want other games involved?
    No

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    10-16 hours I guess.

4> How will you be travelling?
Plane and generally get into Dublin around 10 on Friday nights.

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Stockholm

    6> any extra thoughts?
Need the date confirmed asap to get flights with my company. Early to mid Feb would be better.
Have no pc in Ireland. Assuming its in a net cafe. Also assuming its in Dublin!

1> all nighter or day time hours?
Tbh, I'd prefer day time hours but an all nighter does sound quite tempting.

2> do you want other games involved?
    Nah.

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    Depends on how it goes.

4> How will you be travelling?
    Bus / DART

5> Where are you travelling from?
    North Dublin.

    6> any extra thoughts?
Can we bring our own laptops and just hook it up to the LAN?
    Can we bring beer?
How much will it be roughly?

2> do you want other games involved?

4> How will you be travelling?
    Bus

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Just outside town

    6> any extra thoughts?
    nope

1> all nighter or day time hours?
    either (preferably day)
2> do you want other games involved?
    Meh

4> How will you be travelling?
    Dart
5> Where are you travelling from?
    Dublin
    6> any extra thoughts?
Make sure the venue has a toilet, or that there's a toilet close by...

1> all nighter or day time hours?
All nighter sounds a lot more tempting

2> do you want other games involved?

Sure, why not, I have no preference but if they are there I would try them

3> how long do you want to be there for?

    As long as possible

4> How will you be travelling?

    By Bus

5> Where are you travelling from?

    From Westmeath

    6> any extra thoughts?

I'll try my best to make it ^^

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,073 ✭✭✭Xios

1> all nighter or day time hours?
    All nighter tbh

2> do you want other games involved?
Sure, to kill time, games like sc1, wc3 and aoe :)

3> how long do you want to be there for?
8 hours minimum tbh, from 9pm till 5am.

4> How will you be travelling?
    motorbike, car or bus.

5> Where are you travelling from?
Travelling from lucan, so if someone needs a lift, gimme a call.

    6> any extra thoughts?
I think there's only 18 pc's capable of playing starcraft II, so if we have more numbers, then people will need to swap out the pc's to get time playing sc2.

1> all nighter or day time hours?
Day time hours. I doubt herself would be happy with me leaving her at home alone to go play video games all night :) Also, all nighters seriously F up your sleeping patern. But maybe a Saturday for day time cos people will be working or otherwise busy Friday day time.

2> do you want other games involved?
    No

3> how long do you want to be there for?
    5 hours max

4> How will you be travelling?
    Bus

5> Where are you travelling from?
    Finglas

    6> any extra thoughts?
Maybe the tourney 11am-4pm, then beers/food at some place with comfortable seating?
