extensive bruising on the lower leg

I managed to give myself a bad blow to the leg about 2 or 3 inches below the knee about 6 or 7 days ago. I now have a bruise extending from the ankles to above the knee. No damage to the bones was caused and the swelling is greatly decreased. The discomfort is pretty pronounced and unremitting.Can anyone suggest anything…
