At least pick a county that's in Ireland

With the high unemployment in Donegal, is it not more a case that there were more people home during the day to answer the door and vote for Donegal, than other counties with less unemployment?

    Nothing against Donegal btw.

What a county that is less than 2 hours drive to the salt mines in Ballycastle but our stupid county councillors decide to buy road salt from Egypt, the next delivery due in March

You have some serious issues if you actually take any pride in your county.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,418 ✭✭✭✭hondasam

Does everyone not take pride in their county ?

Just muck savages I find. The closer you get to Dublin the less people care.

I live in Donegal and I consider myself lucky. We have pretty much everything on the doorstep, quality of life is second to none, the people are friendly, the scenery is spectacular and we can pop in and out to the north to the shops and off license :D (there doesn't seem to be the same bitterness that is evident in certain other parts of the country...see above)

Spot on if you ask me. Bray has practically no redeeming features except the Dart to Dublin. If I lived in Bray I doubt I would have the will to get out of bed in the morning.

I understand why Dubliners wouldn't care about Dublin, it is full of scumbags after all.

I'd like to point out that Galway did beat Dublin's ass in this poll.

Cavan is the worst and Dublin is the best.

The county the North didn't want.

Thats true, to many catholics, would have upset the balance for them.

These type of threads should be put in a special prepubescent teens forum. Where they can address similar issues like - "My house is bigger than your house." or "My dad has a better car than yours." and such similarly themed threads.

"A new survey"? I'd like a bit more information than that before I have my say.
Probably a survey of 15 drunks and 3 Spanish tourists in a pub in Bundoran.

Edit - Survey was done by likeplace.ie, great...

The county the North didn't want.

This is actually true. When the northern state was being formed, Lloyd George offered the Unionists the nine counties that composed historic Ulster.
The Unionists refused on the grounds that they believed they wouldn't be able to control 9 counties and the related larger Catholic community. The British PM believed that partition would be temporary as the Northern state would fall apart by itself. This didn't happen as the Unionists were successful in creating a Protestant supremacy through gerrymandering and other dubious means.
