Daigo Umehara thinks Yun, Yang and Fei will be top in SSF4AE:

Also, keep a close eye on A-cho's YouTube channel - they will be uploading match videos from a session that finished, as I type this, about two hours ago.

awesome, i've been hoping all along that Yun would be top tier.

    I've seen the Adon buffs.
    I'm excited.

I knew fei would be near top. I know it's still early days but he just seems to be very good on paper in AE.

Mago reportedly said the same a little while back. On paper Fei Long was looking top tier.

Seems Daigo is scared of Zangief.

Kim1234 was commenting on the Bison changes. Seems to think Bison's ultra 2 is actually better now and that the LK SK nerf isn't too bad. Looks like Bison can still get one loop out of it before the push back puts him out of range.

Guile still looking upper mid. Good stuff, he's alright but I get rid of the top tier bull **** :D

Its good that fei is looking top as hes a fun character. Strange that he thinks Ken will be the best shoto. The game seems fairly balanced now. As an Adon player I would have just liked his wake up to be nerfed, with the buffs he got he's going to be Top along with a few others imo.

Alot of discussion over what Daigo meant by the Guile comments.

Looks like some of the more ridiculous air throws no longer work.

Despite what some people might think I'm actually not that heart broken about this, those ridiculous air throws tend to be something I throw out when I've fecked up and just maybe they'll get you out of it.

Apparently FK FADC U2 still works but does a pitiful amount of damage which, along with Guile's poorer meter gain makes it pretty much non viable.

I'm kinda ok with that, there were always better damage options for Guile anyways.

Alot of Guile's on SRK are talking about picking up Gouken as a counter pick for Sim. The fight is looking alot harder for Guile.

    GUY
"• Target Combo seems to connect easier on crouching opponents.
    • The new and improved 3 frame Crouching Light Kick is really good."

Mmmm, so sexy. That 3 frame cr.lk is gonna make his run-stop pressure even better. The TC hitting on crouchers was more of a fix than a buff, as it was supposed to do that. AE patch can't come fast enough (if it comes)

Looking at the charselect screen, im under the impression that there is only 2 new characters ? For some reason i was expecting [not wanting] more. Maybe some blogs/interviews led on more.
I hope they dont add extra chars to the DLC and have the arcades without them [arcades can update over network though?no?]

I hope they don't dick around too much with characters. They risk segmenting the scene again. Daigo's already said he's not bothered with AE much until it's available to download for all as it can't be adopted as tournament standard until then.

    ... according to Mike Ross!

according to TOKIDO [sp?] hes flyin away with his YUN 1OK BP points or some thing. A+, in the arcades !

Man, it's wierd to see a fighting game cab with only one set of controls on it. It's been years since there's been a proper arcade scene in this country. Is link-up the standard now?

Link up has generally been the standard in Japan if I recall correctly.

And apperantly Akuma was a timed unlock character in Vanilla for arcades, so Oni and Evil Ryu could be on a similar system.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 955 ✭✭✭GorySnake

General opinion is that Oni Akuma and Evil Ryu are boss characters only, and if there are any additional extra characters, they'll be on a time release

Yeah I remember reading in the (physical) EGM around Super's release that's it's in general always been their prefered way of doing it. Sitting next to your opponent is a Western preference.

It's because the Japanese are too polite pussies, so they wouldn't drop into the seat next to a player already in a game.

    The first link-up cabs were SF2 hack-jobs.

I remember hearing that SF didnt take off at all until they got the link up cabs

Some AE Yun and Yang videos here. All I've seen of the Yun player so far is: Run away - build meter - activate Genei Jin - drop combo.

watched that earlier, that wouldnt work against characters with fast projectiles

    That meter building is pathetic.

Yun's Palm destroys projectiles, you can see it in the Cody video when he Palms the first rock of an EX rock and gets hit by the second.

I'd say it would be useful against characters who cant approach and punish quickly enough, the Cody player eventually copped on and used Ruffian to punish it.

It's going to be like reflects with Rose I think for me, will have to follow the boom in to stop him from doing random palmy thingies.

Bloody 3rd strike characters coming over here with their AYE AYE AYEs and their meter buildings! :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,070 ✭✭✭Placebo

Yun's Palm negates projectiles in the way that Dictator's Psycho Crusher and Rufus' Galactic Tornado does. You'll have to get used to the timing, and hopefully eat a few ultras on trying to spam it. Also with super, it was dangerous in sf3 cause he was fast so couldnt jump around, not sure with this.

They obviously wanted him to be able to use super a few times in a match (he gets it 3 times vs the Cody) so gave him the crazy meter building. Divekick, 123 xx dash punch gives him like half a bar lol. :pac: Only thing is it doesn't look like genei jin has the juggle potential it does in 3s as nothing bounces them as high on hit, so you'll have to go for resets a lot more during it (probably a good idea anyway due to the damage scaling).

I'm pretty happy with how he looks so far especially after the initial reports of people guessing he'd be solidly mid.

Also, Yang is able to feint his palm attack, so I wouldn't recommend trying anything too ballsy when you see it in case you're being baited.
