microphone feedback with new skype update

    Wondering if anyone has had the same experience as me here, and what can be done about it. Normally if I turn my laptop volume up to the last it will cause a loud feedback squeal through the mics at the top of the screen. Not ideal but generally not an issue. However since installing the latest version of skype this feedback will occur once the volume goes above 40-50%. Its really annoying as you can probably imagine. The skype update is the only thing I can think of in the last while that has any affect on sound afaik. So any ideas, tips how to fix this, etc? Alternatively can anyone tell me how to uninstall the latest update without uninstalling skype altogether, I can't seem to find any such info online. Thanks in advance.

    downloaded an older version of skype from oldapps.com, but it seemed to still be there. Went into microphone properties->levels and brought microphone boost down to midway, it had been up at the top.
