The novelty of the internet! I remember sneaking downstairs at night for a browsing session (would usually end up in Teen Chat) and praying my parents wouldn't hear the computer starting up (creak, creak, creak, creak, BEEP, creak, creak).
Now I can use my iPhone in the bedroom, but the thrill is gone - and I definitely wouldn't be heading to Teen Chat anymore!:(

Doom, wipeout, Mortal Kombat 1-3, sonic series, sim city, alien trilogy, avp, virtua cop, virtua fighter, virtua racing, sega rally, exhumed, magazines like CVG, Mega Machines, 2000 ad, films such as Timecop, Waynes World Under Siege, Fortress, Terminator 2, Stargate, Gross Point Blank, Pulp Fiction, music varying from Radiohead in their prime to Spaceman by Bablyon Zoo, good times, nay glorious times. The 90s were great because everyone was having fun, it was less ironic and hipster-ish. People brought back the 80s starting roughly from 2000, its 20 years now, we must bring back the 90s!!

    Re: The Internet

Didn't get a computer until Christmas 1999, they had a couple of computers in my local gym and I had gone on this thing called the Internet a couple of times :p

Remember my mum driving me to the DHL warehouse to collect my Dell PC as they couldn't deliver it in time for Christmas.

Remember feeling really proud that I set everything up on Christmas day myself and connecting to the internet for the first time at home, first two sites I went on were the Official Gary Barlow website and a London radio station called Heart 106.2 FM, listened all evening :D

    good music
the absence of celebrity for celebrity sake, and the times before talentless people got music contracts because they looked pretty and had not talent.
    Game on [funny funny show]

oh..and when MTV showed proper video's and had alternative nation and ray cokes

starter gear was sweet! still have loads of it and its lasted well, still have a pair of shorts that I get a fair bit of use out of still.

and a starter basball style bulls top - good thing I haven't grown much since I was 15.

lol, yeah the double cassette recorders were brilliant! shame that there was feck all on the radio worth recording.

was mad into swoping mix tapes with mates

i still have loads of starter gear! even though i'm 30 it's like i'm permanently stuck in 1992. i still wear my bulls jacket, nike air max.. and i still have a tape player! it's not double cassette though :(
mix tapes were the best! i'd love to make them again. cd's or mp3 download playlists just aren't the same!

Yeah, being a teenager and thinking that the leaving cert was the toughest exam I'd ever do. Guess I never figured on the ccna.

...and decent guinness ad's, nirvana, Bevis and Butthead, MTV before it got ****, Brass Eye, the 11 O'clock Show, lolo ferrari, Father Ted, and my first proper girlfriend:pac:

I was thinking about this recently. Kids in the 90s wore baggy jeans and made
these the biggest band in the world.

Kids now wear skinny jeans and listen to :(

Gen X was were it was at.

Atlantic 252 on Long Wave. Any tape player you bought had to have long wave to you could get it.

I also made deadly mix tapes from that station - I listened to them so much that sometimes when I hear the songs from them now my brain thinks it's weird that the DJs voice doesn't appear like I remember it in the recordings.

also, the word "deadly" (see above)! Does anyone use that anymore?

I remember 'discos' back then where you could latch on to a young wan that showed any sign of interest and suck her face for half the night, a week later she would be declaring her undying love. You can't latch onto random young wans in 'discos' anymore, in fact it is rare to see any lovin going on in 'discos' nowdays.
