Astronomy book for a kid

Could anyone recommend one?want to get one for my young fella,hoping he gets my fascination with it!One with good pictures but decent explanations with it?

His head melted when I explained a light year to him:DHe was dissapointed it wasnt viable to travel it in a honda civic:pac:

Stephen hawking and his daughter wrote a series of books for kids for eg.

I used to love big colourful encyclopedias when I was younger. Not necessarily written for children, but they have nice pictures and a little bit of everything in them. But I was reading through this kind of stuff at his age.

thanks...just ordered that book from Amazon...should go nicely on the shelf with Pale Blue Dot which in itself is a fantastic read but not really for kids.
