This game had reminded me how much I hate the suzuka circuit. Hated on computer games since Nigel mansells on the snes.
Although having the Nürburgring makes up for it, some great fast corners on it.

I used to hate that track too, but once you get to know it, you'll realise how it flows together. Do a lap around it in a GT500 car and you'll adore Suzuka.

Bought this and the DFGT wheel for €150 altogether. Loved it for three days and haven't played it since. Are there any cheats around to unlock more cars and tracks for time trial mode as I enjoy playing that but don't enjoy playing the GT mode to unlock them.

    Why? Cause its so hard?

I'm guessing you're talking about Nürburgring? I find it the hardest track in the game too, but I don't mind having to redo a challenge on that track. The fast corners make any mistake a disaster the kerbing is really high, so if you go over it there's a good chance you'll spin. It's also very narrow making overtaking dangerous. But most importantly, the Nürburgring is so long its almost impossible to learn.

Even though its the hardest track its much more enjoyable racing the fast corners and narrow track than the stop start tracks like suzuka

Lads has anyone come across a 'Jay Leno' named truck.......with something like a 16 litre engine and close to 1,000 hp??? Spotted it briefly in second hand. Needless to say it was several million. Huge yoke.

You're missing the point of GT so. It's all about putting in the hard slog to unlock new cars, tracks and slowly improve your lap times. It's not an arcade game like the NFS series.

I wonder will this damage patch see the release of lots of updates to improve the game. After listening to the lads on Rebel FM talk about the state of the standard cars, Im put off buying the game. Afew patches to give us premium versions of more of the cars would be nice.

If you like the series, dont hesitate to buy it.....end of. If you're not it will probably annoy the boIIocks out of you. It has its faults and major annoyances but underneath is an epic car sim.

Gt 5 is great. Some games are flashy on the outside but rotten to the core. This is more... shiny on the inside, with few bad warts here and there on the surface. It's not perfect, but some of the moments it produces are. There's a strange sort of balance going on, it's quite forgivable.

Have this game a week now, and been playing quiet a lot. It's fairly rewarding to win a tough race. Like lets say you have the lead and theres like 1 lap to go but you do something stupid like taking a corner too fast or something naff and you lose your place. Winning your place back and taking 1st feels very very satisfying.

Only started playing B-Spec this evening and to be honest, i can see myself playing for the night to build up some easy Credits ;)

Looking to buy my first Ferrari chaps. Should I get the 458 Italia or hold out and get the Enzo?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

I tuned the 458 and destroyed the Enzo in the Ferrari race. The Enzo tuned, though, could be niiiice.

You're not wrong. Seems very old school rpg - outdated interface that does little to ingratiate itself to the user. A lot of tedious grinding until you're, eventually, completely overpowered. :D

Anyone race with the Mugen 82' or whatever car you win at some point along the way? I raced it in the Japanese 80s race and lapped in both races! Demon of a yoke!

I just went and bought the 599. 600hp stock, I tuned it to 765hp! Absolute dynamite. Put sport racers on it and made bits of the Ferrari races.

I'm in a similar situation in terms of deciding what Lambo to buy. I kinda want the Gallardo seeing as there is a Gallardo specific race. Would I get away with tuning that in terms of competing with the SV's I'd be coming up against.

With respect, your post was a little glib, don't you think?

Series has not moved with the times and is, in ways, a 5 year old game. People who enjoyed the series years ago, may not put up with its 'archaic bs' in 2010.

Similarly, suggesting that people who did not enjoy past Gran Turismo games will not enjoy this one is hardly revolutionary thinking.

Not a bad game but my god the sound is brutal, got my type r civic expecting to relive the days when i drove one, it just sounded like a food blender in this...

Love the kart racing good craic, and that VW van race wrecked my head! But the thing that really sold me on GT5 was when i put a turbo in a Honda Beat, epic lols!

I got the gallardo for that reason and strolled both lambo races. Did a bit of mods to it. Won a countach and thought it would be good for the classic supercar race. Spent about 70k in mods and its still not good enough :(

Was just thinking that about the sound yesterday. Sounds like they used 1 sound and changed the pitch and tone slightly for each car. They need more bass

Sick of seeing the same old versions of mx5's, old skylines, jap city cars, yaris's and anything made by daihatsu in the second hand garage all the time!

Mugen is great. I won the 80's Japanese races with it. Looks AWFUL, graphically, but it's great.

I went with the Gallardo to use for both Lambro races.

Gallardo with a few bob in it worked a treat, albeit after one or two attempts and with medium racers put on. They make some difference. Also won the light British racecar races so only one gold left in Professional to get and I can build on my one gold in Expert.

I've a 4 day weekend coming up for myself so I may get a bit more time to this than I've been managing. :)

I wish there was an option "Smack the sh!t out of your B-Spec driver"
Being shown up by cars that shouldnt even be near him on the track

I know. Mine can't win on the Daytona track in a modified Veyron! He just loves to brake miles too early. C'nut.

Same problem. The car is way too heavy and understeers really badly evne when im driving it, so i guess B-Spec driver doesnt stand a chance. I dont know if weight reduction would help the car are not. Need to find a car with more downforce for that track i think.
