Contact your local VEC. I was really confused during the summer because I had missed exams and had repeats in August, but I heard that if you have failed exams you don't get your grant, so I just emailed my local VEC (Westmeath) and they replied within a day with a really nice email!

Deffinatly contact the vec by email. I repeated a year due to illness and still got my grant. However, with all this budget nonsense this might have changed. I needed letters from my doctor outlining my illness and how it affected me but the vec will advise you on how the letter should be worded

You can repeat the year you dropped out of for medical reasons. Get evidence from your doctor, hospital etc and also a letter from your college giving your attendance record to date. You must go back to the same course though.
