Ill keep an eye on the prices Sam and if there's a drop off or much change ill post up here and give meteor a bell and tell you what they say.

No sorry they where mms from a mate(she didn't have a cable, so she sent them to me and i uploaded them onto her bebo). The cost is the reason I never touched the net on a mobile and was pleasantly surprised when(most of the time) the texts work out cheaper.

You should never be charged for receiving an MMS from a regular number. did you upload them to her bebo from the phone or transfer them to your pc with a USB cable first?

Sorry again not clear, I transferred them to the pc using the cable and then uploaded them. I was going mad @ meteor and they fobbed me of and more or less called me liar.

To be honest if you came to me with that story I'd be inclined to say the same :D

It doesn't make any sense that you would be charged for receiving an MMS. Either something went very wrong with their charging system or something else was going on that you were charged for. It shouldn't happen again anyway because of the 69c cap

Well I suppose its one of those stories that could sound like your pulling a fast one.

So is new charge 69c if i send 1 or a 100 messages?? Your getting more questions about charges than your app here

I wouldn't say you were pulling a fast one, I'd say you downloaded something other than the MMS without realising it. It would only have had to be 256KB to cost €5 which could be a single web page.

Yeah it's a 69c flat rate. It costs that as soon as you connect and everything is free after that up to 50MB

Nah I meant , like kinda as you said, someone opens a webpage and then theres a fiver credit gone, rings meteor and trys to get it back by saying they didnt do it etc.

Feck it, just as I get cheaper texts on a newer phone, be cheaper to send it the old way unless you know your sending over five messages

That's why I'm looking into the new service where it sends a regular text to a meteor number. do you have free meteor-meteor texts?

I seen that but the amount id use on average stopped me from commenting as its rare id send a large amount of texts via any method.

Yes I have them, they where on the account as its an old meteor account from when that was the only bonus.

Any joy with an update for the new emobile site? Although if im not mistaken, it asks for a graphical security thingy with every login

They don't use a graphical security thingy with every login. Give this one a shot:

    http://www.cabbagetexter.com/Cabbage_Setup_1.97.3.exe

You should be able to add and use an eMobile login. Let me know how you get on.

Youre right they don't, it was just whatever direct link I had bookmarked was making it do that.
And i just tested that, and its now working perfectly... Brilliant, thanks

No it wouldn't. As I understand the new pricing you should be charged 69c for the first connection and free after that. I don't know why you were charged 40c on the 23rd

Not nitpicking just trying to help, think you misread the above charges, its 4c not 40c. The 4c was normal (dated 23rd november) before new pricing structure was introduced a few days ago (exactly mirrors my own situation).

PS Made a small donation there, many thanks for all your efforts, would imagine can be a thankless job to an extent!

A temporary solution for anyone on meteor who has access to a 2nd (sim-free) phone is to set up cabbage on your second phone as well (insert your meteor sim into second phone when youre downloading)

Then remove meteor sim and use a sim from a different network (in your 2nd phone). You'll pay your normal 2c (o2/vodafone etc.) credit and your message will appear as sent from your meteor number.

Downside is that you're receiving a text on one phone and texting back from another.

Personally,I've set up vodafone ISP (working a treat :) ). Texts cost practically nothing as opposed to 69c per day. And they appear as sent from my meteor number..

Perhaps there's an easier way of doing above steps, that's the only way I know though..

PS Sam posted vodafone ISP settings a couple of pages ago..

I cannot figure out for the life of me how to import my contacts from a csv file.

I select the CSV file and click import. I then choose just the last name and phone number from the next window.
This then presents me with a list of all users imported.

However, when I click Import or Back nothing happens, and I don't see an option to select all. Can anyone enlighten me please?

    Thanks

You're absolutely right, it is 4c and it is normal. Thanks for your donation :)

Good suggestion, vodafone isp is the cheapest option on pre pay.

The file you're trying to import might not be in a format that cabbage supports. The fastest way to troubleshoot this would be for me to look at the file. Would you be able to send it to cabbagetexting [at] gmail.com? Or if you don't want to send the actual contacts you could open it in notepad to see the format it's in and send a few examples with the names and numbers changed.

Last few days cabbage is not working with my vodafone number? Is it stopped working with vodafone or is it just my account?

It's working for me. What error message do you get and can you log into the vodafone website normally?

Can you click more->extras->diagnose sending problems and post the results. It asks you for the number you're trying to send to but just enter something like 0871234567

Just like magic, it comes back working again. I think its down to vodafone, they seem to be having problems with all their services at the moment, mobile, home, BB the lot.

Hey Sam I saw your previous conversation with jeffk about meteor now charging a flat rate, I don't understand though did you guys figure out how to stop getting charged the flat rate? These are my data charges over the last few days
    01 Dec 10 09:30 00:00:00 2 KB Mobile Internet € 0.5702
    01 Dec 10 09:32 00:00:00 8 KB Mobile Internet € 0.0000

    02 Dec 10 19:36 00:00:00 2 KB Mobile Internet € 0.0000
    02 Dec 10 19:44 00:00:00 2 KB Mobile Internet € 0.0000
    03 Dec 10 22:35 00:00:00 2 KB Mobile Internet € 0.5702

It's something I'm planning to do involving people sending texts to a phone with a meteor sim in it which then forwards them through the cabbage service but I haven't done it yet
These are my data charges over the last few days

    They're ex VAT. 0.5702 *1.21=0.689942

Oh right, thanks Sam. Will turning off 3G make any difference or will I still get charged 69c even if I'm using data over GPRS?

Turning off 3G won't make any difference, it's 69c regardless of how you connect

FYI the Windows Phone 7 version of Cabbage (Sprout SMS) is now live on the WP7 marketplace. Anybody who picked up a HD7 on O2 in the last 2 months should give it a go, it works very well. Enter your text, pick your contact from your WP7 contacts list, and away you go. And free, of course. The developer is working on long (160+) texts , support for other networks etc for future updates.

    Details and screenshots here
