    from dublin bus website now:
    Service Update: 15.30hours

Service Disruptions due to adverse weather conditions.

    Wednesday 1st December 2010

Dublin Bus wish to advise that there is currently a limited bus service operating. This is due to extreme weather and icy road conditions. This is being further worsened by traffic ongestion and slow speeds across the city.
Dublin Bus is making every effort to maintain a level of services but this is proving very difficult due to the worsening road conditions.
    A very limited service currently operating on Routes 7, 13, 15, 16, 19(northside Only) 20, 27, 31, 40, 41, 45, 46a, 65, 65b, 77, 102, 128, 140, 145, 150,
A very limited level of service operating to Tallaght, Ballyfermot, Howth, Malahide, ballymun, Finglas,
No services currently on the Lucan Road, Blanchardstown, Ranelagh, Ballycullen.
Further updates to follow from Dublin Bus once information becomes available.

    From Luas website:
    Red Line
Passengers please be advised the Luas Red Line is running from The Point to Tallaght.
Connolly Stop is closed due to adverse weather conditions. However, ALL other stations on the Red Line are open and operating at the moment.

The Red Line is experiencing severe delays due to blockages by other road users at junctions.

    Green Line
The Green Line is operating from St. Stephen’s Green to Brides Glen and is experiencing some minor delays .

Anyone know what the story is with trains from Maynooth going towards Dublin? irishrail.ie is busted.
More importantly, trains from Clonsilla to Drumcondra - are they running, but just delayed? Or have they just stopped completely?

    Will I even bother trying?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,110 ✭✭✭KevR

Anyone know if Tara Street and Pearse Street stations have Maynooth trains running again? The IR website said this a while ago:
    Irish Rail wrote:
There are delays to DART and Commuter services of up to 30 minutes due to frozen points at Connolly Station.
Staff are on site working to clear the area and minimise these delays.

Docklands and Maynooth services are operating to and from Connolly Station only.

    Now it says:
    Irish Rail wrote:

    Current delays

There are delays of up to 15 to 30 mins to DART and Commuter services due to frozen points at Connolly Station. Staff are on site working to clear the area and minimise these delays.

M3 Parkway/Docklands servicesare operating to and from Connolly Station only for the remainder of the day.

    Docklands Station is now closed.

    Can anyone clarify?

According to the Irish Rail twitter account (http://twitter.com/IrishRail), all the mainline services in and out of Dublin are operating, although they're delayed around Connolly. A friend of mine just arrived in Maynooth from town, without any problems.

Just on the 5:05 from conolly to sligo, trains still not going to maynooth from pearse or tara.
Absolute pandemonium, people being crushed and screaming at eachother trying to get on...

Edit: sligo trains are stopping at all stations to maynooth.

I was speaking to a friend of mine last night and he told me that the media are exaggerating the impact of the snow and that they are making people worry about nothing.

    Anybody reckon he's right?:D

    Chaos at Connolly Station
THE NATIONAL TRAIN service has become packed to capacity on some routes due to commuters filtering in from reduced services on other public transport facilities.

Iarnrod Eireann has asked customers to “please be patient” and warned that stations and trains are very busy. Sharon Gibbons (@somethingbanal) sent TheJournal.ie the picture (right) to show how Connolly DART and train station is currently packed with commuters. Iarnrod Eireann, tweeting under @irishrail, has just asked that commuters “defer” from entering Connolly station for the next 20 to 30 minutes to allow the crowds to dissipate.

A passenger fell while getting off a DART at Tara Street station during rush hour and was treated by medics, according to Iarnrod Eireann. The incident caused more delays at the station although trains are now moving through there again.

Meanwhile, the Luas website is back up and running with a temporary home page. It warns that the Luas Red line is experiencing severe delays and is not stopping at Connolly station at all. The Green Luas line is running from Stephen’s Green through all stations to Brides Glen but that there are also some delays there.

Bus Eireann has also responded to its website issues, caused by the large number of commuters trying to log on and make travel plans. The home page now has a full list of services which are and are not operating in the city. It was last updated at 18.20.
