Snow Reports/ Chat - Potential Blizzards & Heavy Snow - 29/11/2010

I'm a little confused by all this. First I thought the mildness talked about for today was the stuff coming up from France/across Cornwall northwards visible on this mornings Sat24 Sat imagery.

Then I hear the RTE warnings but the boardsies who have called it right till now Poo Poo'ing on that. I am accepting of their explanation that the MET are loath to forecast snow when we haven't had it yet in case they get in trouble for wasted preparation but once we have snow they over ramp snow to cover themselves incase we got it when they hadn't forecasted it....if you get me.....

So I read our boardsies pessimistic posts. They seem to be saying the wind turning to a North Easterly is what will raise temps?? So the air coming from the direction of Scandinavia and the artic and not the Cornwall air is going to raise temps???? The same North Easterlies that we were praying for a few days ago and that gave us all the Streamers off the Irish sea this weekend. Now all of a sudden they are going to raise temps????

Lets assume these NE tonight will raise temps. Can someone also explain how the thaw, the raised positive dewpoints today can be reconciled with giant fluffy flakes of snow being dumped on Bray on the Seafront at 3:30pm and does this fact in anyway give indications about what will fall tonight?
