We are having problems at home with Cell counts. We have already taken out high cell count cows but yet the cell count is still high. Do you think its a machine problem?

    could be anything! :(

machine - when was it last tested.
liners - how many milkings since last change.
cows - what stage of lactation are the high cows at, if they are early then dry cow tubes prob had no effect, or she picked up infection during dry cow period, most likely just after dry off or before calving
dry cow procedure - are you using sealers, they can help up to when a cow is calving down and teat canal open when she is lying down.
biggest thing is to stop cross infection now between cows by dipping in a paracetic acid solution such as romit bf or cluster xx. you wont see results from cluster dipping over night it will take time and it will only stop problem getting worse, other measures must be taken to actually lower the scc
milking procedure - are you post spraying / dipping.
Bedding - what are the cows lying on, lime helps by having the ph not suitable for bacteria

had a scc problem this year, not enough to get penalty but still not enough to get bonus hovering around the 360 mark, after coming below 300 now with some cows dried off, We were advised when drying off do a small number at a time as more time to each cow, CMT test each quarter such as the video i found below, and a cow with 1 high quarter put up 2 lactating cow mastitis tubes and 1 dry cow tube and sealer in that quarter (without massaging in sealer and holding top of tit) with a cow with 2 high quarters use tylosin and dry cow tubes and sealer - better to talk to your vet about this though

you can also cmt test cows after a case of mastitis that you think are cured (no clots) to see if they are actually cured

good luck with the job search also :)

keep inn mind this is not professional advice and only experience

    as above

check for stray electricity (voltage) get someone that has experience with milking set ups

allow each cow at least 8 weeks dry period

clean cubicles (use cube lime or similar)

this year we started pre dipping our tank sample fell to 30000 and was still at 110000 this week as we milked OAD for dry off end of November

also maybe a culture and sensitivity test - take a milk sample from a range of cows (high scc more i suppose) FROM THE TIT into a bottle, i see your from cork riverview labs near the mart do this in bandon. It will tell you what tubes are suitable before dry off

Had a big problem for years but this year I pre sprayed teat foam and wiped it off every cow. Then I dipped every cluster when changing over with a splash of paracetic acid in a few buckets of water. Takes bout 10 mins extra to milk cows but so well worth. Great relief to have a cell count round the 200-250 mark. Not perfect i know and not under 200 but might achieve that in a few years hopefully......
Also you don't have to lose great cows as they are protected by the pre spraying and dipping inbetween.

    Hope that helps.
