With all the talking and shouting going on between the politicians, which one for you (any party or independent) stands out, for his/her honesty and straight forwardness in talking plain english that we all understand.

Well i remember the Trevor Sergeant controvercy last year. While he didn't cover himself in glory, it was refreshing that he was at least trying to help his constituents, which most of them don't give a damn about, and slightly refreshing amidst other TD misdemeanors.

In Galway (West), both Michael D Higgins (Lab) & Padraig McCormack (FG) seem like very honest and hardworking politicians.

+1 even if you disagree with his policies, he's always pretty much a straight talker, the only one to effectively take a proper pay cut and actually went to jail for his princples.

Does David Norris qualify as a straight politician?

Bertie Ahern's sport column is refreshingly honest so it is

Probably Joe Higgins. I don't agree with his hard left stance but whatever you say about him he seems to 100% believes what he says and walks the walk with regard to wages etc.

Norris would be up there as well.

Can't think of many in the Dáil though.

That whole I will/wont/will/wont/will challenge Kenny thing didn't do him any favours.

He was the first one that sprung to mind. I don't agree with his politics but he always says it how he sees it...

Straight up has to be Joe Higgins. No time for his politics but I respect the man himself, if not what he stands for. One of the best on the spot orators in the Dáil for sure and I'll give credit where credit is due, he sticks by his own principles it seems.

Won't do me any favours here but personally I'd throw Brian Lenihan into the mix. He's a man who I don't think is deliberately going out of his way to mislead, lie, muddy the waters etc. In time I think the man will be vindicated when the full truth about who said what over the last couple of years comes out, if some rumours in the financial world are to be believed. He could be happily retired now sippling cocktails by a pool somewhere, but he isn't. He had the bottle to step up to the plate despite his own personal problems and carry on. He, personally, regardless of politics etc has my respect.

You know they have no morals and no respect for human life. But what they do have and no-one can deny this now, they have the finest collection of boilers in the world! And I include Canada in that!

    Finian McGrath, no question.

That's the independent yeah? No offence, but to me he's just a slightly less loathsome version of Jackie Healy Rae.

    Gerry Adams.
Gerry 'I was never in the IRA' Adams?

Gerry 'I did not know that my brother was raping my niece' Adams?

    Epic fail.
