That was a waste of 55 minutes.

    Next week looks better.

Decent, but so disappointing considering the last four seasons.. Watch episode 9 from any previous season (even 3 I'd wager!) and you'd find it tough to not watch the next one too, I don't feel any urgency to watch next week's :( Such a shame.

Good episode I thought. Didn't mind Aster/Astor?!? Nice scene between her and Dexter at the end.

Had some good scenes to be fair, Liddy and Quinn, Deb and Laquerta, Dexter beating the crap out of that scumbag.

Feels as though its just about to boil over as there are a lot of different things going on.

I thought that was a very good episode.

I watched a version that had the coming up next week part sadly.

Yeah, bed now but i'll expand. I liked this episode

Astor and her friend - what a waste of a story,

Best parts were with Liddy, interesting to see what he comes up with,

overall it's fizzling out - I can't see it being much of a finale tbh...

I kinda like the change in the writers style for Dexter. For the first 4 seasons their style has been one of fast passed action and twist galore. This season they are really focusing on the characterisation aspect which brings great diversity.
As for this episode I think someone has the right idea in saying that the episode was full of a lot of great scenes especially the last scene between Aster and Dexter yet, I felt that it didn't come together as an entire episode very well. Don't get me wrong I am really in to this season and the premiere for the next episode reinforces my love. Can't wait to see how it will all pan out.

I quite enjoyed that actually, and I've been fairly disappointed with this season so far otherwise. The Astor angle wasn't very interesting but everything else was pretty well done.

So much negativity in here about a very good episode.

    Looking forward to next week!

I loved this episode. It was packed full of interesting scenes and multiple stories were going on simultaneously. It was so good, in my opinion, because it was written by Lauren Gussis - the woman who brought us "Shrink Wrap" in season 1, "Easy as Pie" in season 3, and "Hello, Dexter Morgan" in season 4.

Michael C Hall's acting in this episode was superb. I loved how the stories are starting to come together and I'm very much looking forward to the next episode now. Best episode since the first three of this season in my opinion.

I like how this season is coming together. I'm really looking forward to the last three to see how it all works out.

I also find the arc with Liddy being onto Dexter interesting. It's the first real time that someones been "in his business" without him being aware of it.

Found it boring as **** tbh. The kids are happy so they'll disappear for another half a dozen episodes which they've already done, so I don't know what the point of that story was. I'm about ready to stop watching tbh.

    Great episode.

Although this season needs more Liddy!!!

The point of the Aster story was twofold - to introduce Lumen to everyone which will accelerate their own theories about Dexter (mainly him being responsible for the death of his wife) but also to show Dexter that sometimes we do things for others to help us deal with our own lives.

Fantastic episode I thought, certainly one of the best so far this season. Dex beating yer man was a great scene, and thank God Batista is finally standing up to his wife, maybe she'll get fired soon, we can only hope.

Lots of great scenes, but I didn't feel the whole thing gelled that well.

Liddy is well on the hunt for Dexter now, but Quinn has completely backed off. Wonder will this come to a head between them, or will Quinn warn Dexter about him? It seems to me like the writers initially wanted Quinn to investigate Dexter, in the same way that Doakes did, but then changed their mind and so substituted Liddy for Quinn so that they could easily get rid of that character without offing Quinn. A bit contrived to be honest.

It was kind of obvious where the Astor story was going, all so that there could be peace on the home front. Hardly all that necessary, since the show was doing fine with the kids being away with the grandparents anyway.

Now that Jordan knows all about Dexter and Lumen, how are they going to get to him? Also, who's blood was that in the necklace? I didn't recognise her.

I didn't think it was fantastic, but not terrible either. Some good individual stories, but I just can't help but feel it's all going somewhere crappy and disappointing.

    Spoiler
Theory on the imdb is that Masuka is in Jordan's gang!

Remember his bs story when he found Dan the Dentist?

Also, it was him who gave the DNA results to Dexter, and it was just some ho who's alive and well.
Semt Dexter on a wild goose chase?

Aww man, pop spoilers that might be true in spoiler tags please! Not that I think that theory could be remotely true, but the fact that IMDb is teeming with spoilers anyway worries me :s

More than a little annoying alright. The thought occurred to me but I'm hoping that spoiler isn't accurate, would be stupid IMO.

I hope you don't feel we're being too picky jayteecork, it's just this is one of the few forums I've seen where it's 99.9% spoiler free, you don't need to be too careful in avoiding them on here y'know?
I also cannot believe that that's true.. I'd absolutely hate it if it was :( For a LOT of reasons!

Thought it was one of the best episodes this season so far. I liked the fact that Dexter beat the crap out of yer man - thought it was a great scene.

Just watched this. By far the best episode of this season. Love how there are so many different stories going on now, Quinn and Deb, Quinn and Liddy, LaGuerta and Batista, Dexter and Lumen... etc... so many! Great episode.

    10/10

And for the first time this season I cant wait until next week!

I think this statement is quite frankly MENTAL! :D I thought Episode 7 was the best so far.

I thought it was a good episode and they needed to elaborate on Astor and Dexter's relationship - I mean they need to evolve it from her and Cody having just left for their Grandparents place. And as a previous poster said, it was good to have herself and Lumen meet to have that sub plot intertwine and I thought it worked very well.

I don't understand people saying they're not bothered about watching the next one on the basis of this one. Even if you didn't like it, it's Dexter (!!) :) and something's bound to happen.

imo, every episode of dexter is sheer brilliance but e9 was one of the best this series.

suspense was built throughout and the phone call at the end was terrifying lol
