Can i get the dole -coming home from UK

Just been made redundant in UK, worked here since leaving college for last 7 years.

DO you think I will be able to claim social welfare if I move back to Ire? Been hearing stuff about having to wait 2 years?

I don't think you can anymore, you'd have no right as you weren't contributing in the last 2 years.

Only messin! As far as i know if you have built up your prsi you may be allowed claim. If you have no prsi, you may be means tested. I'm not sure about a two year rule but I dont work in social welfare

If you are claiming the equivalent of Jobseeker's Benefit in the UK, you can continue to have your UK benefit paid for 13 weeks if you move back to Ireland. Contact the Office in the UK that pays you to arrange this.

"(c) Transfer of Benefit - Article 64
Under this Article a person who is fully unemployed and has been in receipt of JB in one of the European countries for at least 4 weeks, may transfer this benefit to one of the other European countries for 13 weeks,(78 days) provided the person is seeking employment in that country. The Competent State (the State paying the JB) may extend the period of 78 days to 6 months in certain circumstances. The person registers as unemployed in the country to which s/he travels and the competent institution pays the benefit to the person while s/he is seeking employment in that country."

If you do decide to return to Ireland and are still unemployed you can apply for Jobseekers Allowance (JA) while your UK Benefit is being paid. You will have to satisfy the Habitual Residence Condition. This section is relevant to you - have a look at the example in the link below.

You will be asked to provide evidence that your return to Ireland is permanent. This can include - closing bank account(s) in the UK, termination of rental agreement/mortgage where you ed, proof of transport of your possessions, etc., etc.

If you have a spouse/partner, children, are they coming with you to Ireland?
