The possible solution (abandonment of the exchange peg, with a voluntary devaluation of the peso) was considered a political suicide and a recipe for economic disaster.

Boca Juniors, one of Argentina's big two football clubs, acquired their team colours in unusual fashion. The founders of the club, which is based in Barrio Boca, BA, couldn't agree on what colour their kit should be. Sitting on the docks arguing, they eventually agreed the colours of the new club. It would be decided by the colours on the flag of the next ship that sailed into the harbour. That ship was Swedish, & from that day to this, Boca have worn the famous blue & yellow!
