Can a farm in Reps be rented out for a year? I know that you can rent for 3 months but not so sure about renting for a whole year.

If you are the owner and in REPS and you want to rent to another, speak with your planner. A phone call will clarify it.

You have to keep control of the contract area for the duration of your plan, therefor you cant rent it out at all. The proof of this is that you declare it on an SPS application each year. You (assume you are in REPS 4) also have to fullfill the minimum stocking rate requirements if planned for livestock. However it is allowed to sell standing meadows and to sell grass for grazing ie a set number of stock for a set period and to set cattle sheds for the winter. There are various forms for this and different rules depending on the stock involved. Your plan may need to be amended so need to chat the planner one way or the other. As far as I can see there is more profit to be made going this route than trying to rear or finish cattle yourself, especially if you are not fully committed to it.
