If you've ordered it have you used the Bike Fit calculator? What are your measurements and what size are you ordering and/or was recommended? I'm looking at the AL 6.0 to get as much out of the BTW scheme as possible.

Well. I have a crappy cheap GT atm which is a medium frame. After putting all my data in accurately it tells me I need a medium, which is available immediately according to the website. Went into Cycle Superstore in Dublin yesterday and was looking at the shed load of Lapierre bikes they have. Even Lapierre's at €1600 don't have as good equip as the AL 6 which is 999. The Lapierre Carbons are still heavier than the Canyon AL8.

I am researching a bike computer atm.. would love an altimeter with data that can be reviewed on a PC. Know any any decent price? Don't want to pay any more that €80 really.

Yeah the AL 8 seems the best for the money. To get any other bike with this spec seems impossible for this price.

I'm looking at a black medium too after putting in all my details in? Can you post some pics when yours arrives, and a bit of a review, id love to find out as much as i can before deciding on it.

Cheers! Can ask what height you are as a guideline? I briefly had a 15.5'' Trek Remedy 6 a while back. It's a full suspension and felt a bit small for me tbh. I'm 171cm.

It's a toss up between the Roadlite 6.0 and the Grand Canyon AL 6.0. Think I'm leaning more towards having a bit of fun with the MTB. I'd be interested to know what you make of the Roadlite when you get it though.

Another vote from me in favour of Canyon. I bought a CF Ultimate SLX from them a few months back and had no issues whatsoever. It arrived in stock faster than they'd suggested and delivery was faster than I expected (3 days) - I had the bike in my hands within about 5 days of submitting the order online. My only regret is that I'd have preferred to have spent the money in a local bike shop but given that local bike shops couldn't come close to matching the value offered by my choice of Canyon, my regret didn't last long (yes, I'm shallow).

The main instances I've read of where people were not happy with Canyon customer service was where they opted for a non-standard build of a complete bike, such as different length cranks, different length stem, etc. Some people in those circumstances seem to have been fine, others seemed to have to wait longer than they thought necessary. I've seen others complain that they went with a standard build but subsequently found the stem to be too short for their liking, or the frame too big/small - to my mind though that is an error on the part of the individual in deciding badly on their choice of what to buy (there are plenty of online size calculators available from a variety of sources to help you figure out what suits you best before you make your purchase, and if you remain uncertain then only buy from a local bike shop where you get to try before you buy), so I'd dismiss criticisms of Canyon in those particular cases. In my case I went for a standard build and it couldn't have been smoother (well, they did fit mine with the wrong ratio of cassette but in fact what they fitted was my preferred choice anyway but wasn't one of the options available when ordering, so it worked in my favour).

Having said all of that though, please buy something other than a Canyon. Because at this rate the country will be awash with them and mine won't feel so exclusive any longer (did I mention that I'm shallow?)...

Oh, just to mention, the right brake lever connects to the rear brake on these bikes as standard. I'm not sure if they offer the option to swap them round before shipping. That's my preferred setup anyway but might not suit everyone.

This is my dimension.... I'm a hefty 94kgs cos I really love potatoes, german beer and red wine.....lol, I am healthy though. I think it's better to have a tight fit on a bike frame rather that one thats too loose. You can get really bad neck and back problems with a frame that's too big. A Large frame would make my neck strain after 10 mins.

    I got a nerve xc 6.0, 2010 - mountainbike.
You're looking at a road bike in the AL8.0 so you cannot compare models.
    That's a very well spec' bike though for €1500, Campag Athena 11 & 7.4kg.
No risk of sudden carbon failure - ha ha.

Nope, AL 8.0 is a hardtail Mtb. http://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2056 Good luck with the nerve xc;)

Not ordred my AL8 yet, waiting for the funds to come through.... but I have a Diamlemma. I really love the Nerve 6.0 after the link was posted redmaxi.

    https://www.canyon.com/mountainbikes/bike.html?b=2073

My only reservation is will it feel like a heavy bike? What do you guys think. Most of my riding is going to be in the Slieve bloom mountain so there is a massive variation in terrain there. It would be a more substantial bike with the ability to take it around Europe and have some real fun, its just the weight thing that is bothering me. I do want to flow through the landscape smoothly and the though of a hardtail rattling behind me is a concern.... its a tough decision.

Also, on the odd night I want to cycle around the block here on Tarmac...the swings and roundabouts eh!? What do you think?

You've probably gone through their outlet section but would this interest you? http://www.canyon.com/_en/outlet/article.html?o=A1013707
    It'd save you €300

Then you will get more confued...I'm afraid. One fella will tell you buy a hardtail. Another will say he sold his hardtail for a full susser and will never go back.
Having had both I'm glad I bought the full sus. The weight isn't major and you can lockout/adjust the rear suspension accordingly.
It won't really get you down the hills on single track any faster but it will leave you feeling less jared.
That's just my 2c but I'm not a very experienced mtber.

Just spoke to Colm at the Canyon UK number. He was a massive help. The fact that weight was a major factor in my deciding, that too I'm not a pro, it would be a waste not using over technical climbs or descents. With a bit of tarmac thrown into the equation I went with the Canyon AL8 for economical reasons. The Nerve isn't available till week 4 2011! I will post a bunch of photos when it arrives.

From a couple of experiences I've had tracking items coming from Germany - It takes a day to get from Cologne to the east coast of the UK. A further day to get to the west coast of the UK and another day again to get to arrive at the Dublin port.

When did you put your order in? I just ordered my AL8 on the 17th day before yesterday and received confirmation yesterday. Do you think it will ship soon?, as it says available immediately on the website?

    Excited....

I can't remember how long it took for my Canyon frameset to arrive (about a week, I think) but the above is what I've observed when checking the tracking of other items which I've had shipped from Germany.

Yesterday was the 17th. If you ordered it then I guess that you can expect it sometime next week. Should be in time to have it assembled and ready for the following weekend.

I don't think UPS work in Ireland on a Saturday full stop. I am not 100% on it though..

Here's mine after asking. Hopefully they are managing my expectations and it will be quicker.

    Thanks for your E-Mail.
Your estimated date of delivery is in calender week 48. Current Week is 46.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to inform us.

    greetings
