ha ha ha! Well, "RussellTuring", I can only ask how you managed to lurk for a year with only 2 posts to your name?! Plus, origins of the user name?

Welcome to all our new posters, especially Bailey :D This place needs some new input and queries... not to mention a meet-up!

Also, Tarini, just a hint with the quotes - it looks like this: {quote}blah blah blah {/quote}, but you use square brackets instead, so it looks like:
    blah blah blah

Thanks, Feu. I've been eating plenty of pulses and watch my protein intake if that's what you mean.

SR, I signed up so I didn't have to see the ads but never felt like posting 'til now! And it's from Bertrand Russell+Alan Turing, geek gods that they are.

Very smart indeed! Haven't a clue who those people are... something else to google when I get bored :)

They're absolute leg ends. It's good to finally get my foot in the door here.

May as well give them a go...

Why? I'd say astronomy is very interesting. When I was younger my dad brought me to a few of those Astronomy Ireland nights in Wicklow.

Just coz it's a bit of a mouthful and the reaction is usually not great, kinda like.....

or asking me about astrology! To save me headbutting the wall to death I usually just says physics :pac:

Don't get me started on Astronomy Ireland, if there's something to be celebrated, anything from mother's day to valentine's day they will find a way to advertise their shop! The lectures can be a good laugh, they're an organisation that is really just geared towards the general public so they attract a lot of loopies :D
Hey lad(ie)s. I've been lurking here for a bit so I thought I should say hi.

I'm a computer science student and have always lived in Dublin. I went vegan about a month or so ago having been vegetarian for about a week, so I'm very new to the whole lifestyle. I've been cooking again quite a bit out of necessity and I love it. I've probably eaten more types of food in the past few weeks than I did in the previous year.

This is me looking my usual fashionable self, although I change my appearance all the time:

I think that's everything for now.
Look forward to talking to you all. Especially you, Sweet Rasmus...

    Hello and welcome!

You're hurting the nerd levels in here :P
Don't forget to post about while you're lurking!

Hi, I'm Lauren. I'm 22 and I've been a vegetarian about 5 years now. I'm new to the forum, had a boards account for a while now but only recently started using it. Not sure what other information to give really.

Photo below was taken by my little sister who is hoping to study photography although its about a year out of date and I now have a fringe.

Hi Lauren, and welcome to the forum:)
Hi, my name is Bailey and I'm nearly 11 weeks old. I like to play and ruin people's expensive iPod earphones. My favourite hobby is walking all over people's keyboards. They just feel funny under my paws :)

Sorry for the bad pic but I think I'm not all that photogenic. Also my slave there is wearing a coat because the heating at home broke and it's freezing!
    <cat pic>

PS: I actually think a carnivorous diet is better for you. How do vegetarians survive?! I don't get it.

PS2: My slave made me do this, I swear!
Bailey...you are awesome cat and ninja cat! First pic I've seen of you properly and its a nice one. Also you have a patient slave, be kind ok :)

Would a vegetarian cow* be made of quorn or would it be a bean cow? Or tofu/soya cow? Woah, nutroast type cow?

*For food, not that it follows a vegetarian diet, though they all do.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,730 ✭✭✭✭entropi

All this talk of kitties makes me :( because I want one but can't have one :(

Kellie: I'm still unsure if I can go yet sadly, remembered that I have a college ball the next week and needed to save for it so not sure how much I can afford to spend until closer :(

    Re: vegetarian cow...

I would think it may be a soya cow, I have no explanation other than that is how I picture it in my mind's eye :D

And now I go to bed, have a day of alot of study ahead of me.

Thanks for the welcomes LOS and Master of Nothing.

LOS, I know what you mean about people's reactions. When I tell someone what I study, the response is either: "Wow that must be really hard", followed by silence or the inevitable "So, like, you fix computers?".

    Chips, glorious chips!

Years on and it still gets stuck in my head.

Oh yeah, and the right answer was apparently quorn cow.

Would you sponsor my best college friend who's shaving/dyeing his hair (which, and hair colour depends on votes) for focus Ireland? I need more "rainbow colours!" votes... That, or hot pink.

    well Hallo!

eww I hate doing up job stuff, I had a CV skills training workshop today, we were supposed to pick out 3 technical jobs we want to apply for and now we have to do up a CV for one of them. I honestly couldn't find one job that wasn't further study that I'd want to apply for.

I'm still waiting for my housemates to cough up money they owe me for bills and I'm only going to be paying my reg fees this week :-o But if I saw you anothernight I'd chuck some change at ye :D

ask me, but I just came to the point where i hated the actual job more than anything (yes, including "fit your cv blah blah" "dear Sir or Madam" blah blah blah), and even took the risk of the financial void.

Do, if you put a note in my underwear I might start dancing :D(only 20€ upwards, otherwise will only shake my hips which is a highlight in itself to my humble mind :pac:) suppose I'll have to get through with what i have plus pay fetac stuff. oh well...might ask parents for FETAC course for birthday. (I guess some parents dream of their child asking for a FETAC course for their birthday)

I am a little stuck in Bridget Jones:The Edge of Reason at the moment, significantly improving mood, so if I have a weird style of writing never mind :pac:

some people may call my taste of music weird.
it came up with random anyway, but I like it :D

It's been years since I've worked and that was only casual work so it was so hard to come up with stuff on the spot today. Didn't help that the woman kept coming over to me every 2 seconds to check what I was writing

We had this exercise to get us thinking about our interests/motivations etc for cv, there was a section on values/beliefs

It's so clichéd a lot of they stuff they were talking about, if I was ever honest on a CV I'd definitely not get the job.

    LOL!
bit low on cash so these cheaper.........

    funbobigbenm.jpg :pac:

That's a dream child there! I did once ask Santa for an umbrella though!

I don't know them but I'd easily listen to stuff like that. I like rock/metal but I've probably a bit of a bad habit for listening to the same bands for years :/

I just remember when I was 4 or 5 and I made my grandma buy me a Power Rangers Megazord at christmas shopping, not because I particularly liked it but because my friend at that time had one...and since then (because there was almost war under the christmas tree, "Why did you buy our child a war machine blah blah blah"and my parents made her exchange it at the shop) my grandma always just gives us cards with 50 € in which she writes "wishes Grandma xx" disregarding of the rest of the text, so I got "Best wishes wishes Grandma xx" quite a few times already :pac: Looking at my family no wonder I turned out weird.
just considered giving my dad a power rangers mega zord this christmas, there'd be murder :pac:(temptation, uuuuh)

Honesty in a CV? haha. "Reason for leaving: I hated the stupid arseholes screaming at me on the phone and the team manager was weird", that'd be phantastic! "Duties included:
    -Wiping up puke
-Doing the shaitejobs in general that no one else wanted to do" :pac:
Should do a mock CV just for entertainment..

Your parents sound like my cousins parents, he was not even allowed any kind of electronic toys, coz electronics stunt your intelligence didn't you know :P We gave him a little pin-ball game for his birthday once, even though it just worked by pressings buttons so air shoots the ball up, no electronics, he still wasn't allowed it! They're crazy, I have to say the kid is a smart little ****t now (not that it has anything to do with that up-bringing!) but he would bore you to death talking like an encyclopedia.

haha at least your grandma wasn't as lazy as some people who just underline the text inside the card!

    values/beliefs:

    atheist
    vegetarian
    hates people

    SACKED!

It will be a polite mock one coz I get marked on it! But I was just kinda sittin there today thinking I'm just not very employable at all really :pac:

G'night, I better be off too, up early :/

I'm loving the way you called my friend Tom a "her". I've been telling him for ages that he's more of a girl than I am! Though I suppose that might be a poor reflection on both of us :o
