Windows 7 Install Disks?

    When I bought my laptop Windows 7 came pre installed. Can I get/make a Windows 7 install/recovery disk from Microsoft? The reason being is I got a few errors recently saying stuff like could not find desktop, there was another error as well but i cant remember what it said. I also want to back up my files, where is the cheapest place online to pick up a 250-500Gb external HDD

    did it come with a windows 7 installation cd?
    If you can open up the control panel check this out

    Many laptops have an option to burn recovery DVD's.

    Of course it depends on which brand of laptop you have.
