    Hi There,

    Can anyone advise me. I have a small farm which I keep a dozen heifers ranging from 18-24 months. I feed these twice a day with a beef nut to keep them manageable. One or two are in calf , due in March April time. My question is should these two be fed beef nuts or indeed any nut at this stage or up to calving. They are currently out on grass.

    Its only in the last 6wks of pregnancy that the calf gets big. I reckon you're ok feeding those 2 up until end of January, especially if they are on the small side.

    If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

    It depends on the condition the heifers are in, but by experience I never gave any nuts of any sort to a first calver . Once they've calved I do give them some nuts and try to feed them on a bit.
