Install home premium from vista ultimate CD

Hi all

I want to install vista home premium on my friends laptop (she has an OEM key for it that came with laptop). I have a vista ultimate oem DVD which I thought you could install any version from using the relevant key, however - when I put in the home premium key it didn't accept it so I had to install without a key.

It has installed vista ultimate now instead of home premium so I can't activate it at all.

Any ideas?

If that disk came with a pc then it's possible it will only accept OEM keys from that manufacturer.

It's a generic oem disc

Sorry to drag this thread up but I'm in the exact same situation ... Want to use a promotional Windows Vista Ultimate on a sick laptop that came with Vista Premium.

Any help ?

Probably a long shot, but maybe this trick might work on a vista DVD too?
