OK, I have read something on another thread that you can get both free Refill pads and Highlighters in the Academics Advisory office in the Arts block.

If anyone else has any other knowledge of free stuff, or "Where to get the cheapest..." it'd be great if you could pass it on so others can avail of the services (difinitely getting a refill pad tomorow)

Cheapest photocopying on campus is in the SU. Printing costs the same everywhere I think, unless you bring your own paper and print in the Computer Science building (think you can do that anyway)

If you're a club or society exec member, you can print in the clubs and societies room above the juicee luicee (or whatever it's called now) and you get a certain photocopying allowance too.

If you're buying tea, the machine in the arts block does a small cup for a euro. Londis in John Hume did specials on tea/coffee and a muffin for €2 last year, not sure if that's still running. O'Briens and Bewleys are inevitably rip-offs.

Incidentally, wasn't this topic kind of covered already? I seem to vaguely recall a NUIM 'bargains' thread at some point...

Availed of that offer today. Great stuff. Banoffee muffin = Win.

Personally, I liked the cherry bakewell flapjacks with my tea. Mmm nom nom. Not sure if they're still on that special though. Also, not good for the waistline.

    Where's that?

Tried to go to the Academic Advisory office to get some free things, but there was like 7 people with serious looks on their faces waiting outside, so I chickened out

Cheap clothes in Mrs.Quinns. Fairly decent stuff in there too. Ok, so their 'plus-sizes' collection is very my-granny's-american-and-left-us-these-clothes, but otherwise the clothes don't look like standard charity shop affairs.

Of course, they rely on donations of clothes to keep their stocks up so if you've a dress or dressy top or a pair of jeans you're never going to wear again you could maybe drop them in...

You could try StarOffice for free versions of Word and Excel

Someone knows a cheap place to make the laundry here in Maynooth? I'm now in Rye Hall, and a laundry+dryer token cost 6.40 € !!!!! I'm not an expert in this but I think this price is a rob!

    Thnx!

Besides the above suggested OpenOffice... if you really must have MS Office, you can get it cheap at software4students, 65 squids for the big huge massive package.

Or if all you want is wordcount... I like writemonkey. It's free. Cuts down on distraction also. I like it very much. F12 key gives the wordcount, and you can set it to tell you how much you've left, how much you're over... think you can download dictionaries for the spell checking. You can export using markup tags for if you need italics/bold/tables/lists etc.

I'm of the Londis Latté and Original flavour flapjack persuasion myself, but the Yoghurt flapjack might be overtaking...

Bewleys are selling 2 bottles of Lucozade for €2. And they have 500ml bottles of Lucozade Sport that are in the offer too.
