Timing Belt Service Interval for Ibiza?

    Hi all,

Does anyone know the correct mileage at which a timing belt in a 2005 Seat Ibiza Sport (1.4 Petrol 100hp) should be replaced?

For some reason I thought it was at 80,000Km but when I looked through the Seat Service Manual last night, it only spoke about inspecting the belt for wear at 90,000km. At 120,000km it seemed to state that is needed another inspection but no mention of replacement!

    Anyone know the correct interval?

Think it's 90k km or 4 years. Whichever comes first. If it's on the original it needs a change. Think after the change the service book says it requires inspection every second service then...

    Thanks for the info!

Yes it is still on it's original belt and it's coming up to 80,000km now. I hadn't realised there was a 4 year limit too. I better get it changed so!

Yeah, not worth risking it. Rubber deteriorates over time. Make sure you get the tensioners and water pump included in any quote. Water pump has plastic impellors on it that can break up. More stupid VAG engineering
