I was wondering what people think of the breakfast show on Nova with Pat Courtenay. I just get the feeling that he thinks the show is all about him. I quite like Nova, but would prefer some more proper discussion, some good news debates (less the usual political stuff). I find Pat a bit irritating..

Nah, just wondering how you registered in Sep 10 and all your post so far are concerned with Radio.

If I was a cynic I'd say you were plugging RN, but I'm not so carry on:D

I like Nova but don't find P C that good.
I don't think he's up to the job, too many awkward silences, and his zany catchphrase 'over & under' really gets on my t1ts!

With all due respects to your amazing prolificacy, mike, this post may just call for a bit of editing to convey your intended meaning.

Would you not think the username might have turned out as Caledonian?

Agree totally, what is it with the majority of breakfast shows, that they think they have to be "wacky and crazy" first thing in the morning,it does my head in.

I thought 98 and 104 had the worst "crews",but then up pops Nova,PC steals the crown...dreadful,just dreadful...

    Absolutely!

So Billy Connolly was a Caledonman! New one on me.

He's the reason I turned that station off. He's an insult to any adult audience.

Indeed I would never say that. Boards is a veritable fund of the most wonderful knowledge.

And with the greatest respect, may I suggest that a wee perusal of a map of the County Tyrone might just give even one such as you, so rightly certain of the accuracy of your learning, at least momentary pause for thought.

Jeez!! someone who writes as obtusely as I do.

Obviously I fooked up somewhere, if I did I will admit it.

You'll have to give me a hint.

Have a look at a map of Tyrone, south-eastern corner!

BTW, I'ld settle for "abstruse"..., not so sure about the above. For both parties, of course.

    cannot get the Tyrone reference.

    I give up.[/QUOTE

I think you'll find it's a reference to the very beautiful little village of the same name!

Good point!!! PC is not getting any better... Morning radio is so bad here.. 2fm a joke with Paddy and Ruth with Paddy's exaggerating accent to copy hector and Tommy, and ruth trying to teach Paddy how to say Ben Affleck.. Newstalk is quite good, but the same topics done to death and no music, strawberry alarm clock just not for me, never liked Jim Jim, but that is personal choice, and i had high hopes for Nova... just find him so disappointing and has such an irritating voice.. Is it that hard to have good music, main topics on news / papers, some short interviews and keeping it light??

    Hi caledonman,

why don t you listen to talk or news radio for that? Nova is a rock music station! Yet I notice in another post you say you don t like Newstalk breakfast because it has no music! Newstalk is a talk station for people who want talk!

What is it you want in the morning? I am confused.

The username 'Caledonman' comes from the name of the house I grew up in years ago in the country, being 'Caledon House'...
