Last October Eamon Ryan said we would have postal codes by end this year/start next. In April, a related tender was cancelled by the Depratment of Communications. In July, Loc 8 Code were released by Garmin Are Loc 8 Codes instead of Postal codes?

Another question.

What is the fascination with postcodes? There are regularly threads on them in boards and it always slight smacks of CT. The post still gets to where I live even though we don't have them, considering the depth of the problems the country is in, postcodes seem like the least of our worries.
