The camel blazer style one is amazing on! The colour, the length... everything!
I bought a man's camel blazer in Berlin for €6, hoping I could do something with it, but it's just too big. Makes me look like I'm dressing up in my dad's clothes or something.

That Topshop Duffle coat is beautiful! The one underneath with the furry bobbles looks lovely on the website but I wasn't too impressed when I saw it in real life.

Oh my god Sinead those coats are amazing, especially the duffle and brown with navy stripes! Last thing I need is another coat especially from somewhere as pricey as Topshop :(

Oh was anyone at the vintage fair in Galway last weekend? I'd love to hear how it was price wise.

Sapsorrow I was at the Vintage Fair, I thought the prices were...pretty good for the most part. Well, a lot of what was there was very beautiful dresses, in excellent condition, which were quite expensive, but there were some lovely skirts and tops around the €50-€70 mark, and some lovely little hats from about €30. I found some very well priced earrings too. I didn't buy any clothes because a) it was too crowded to bother trying anything on and b) most of the clothes I found were real investment pieces, and I didn't really have that kind of cash to be spending. Like I found a gorgeous 90's lace LBD, but it was €270

Thanks! :) Wow sounds fairly pricey to me, I guess it was mainly designer gear at those prices then!?

To be honest I couldn't get a good look at anything for longer than two seconds because I was working :p (it was a quiet minute I swear) And it was mobbed the only time I got to have a look around, but I would say a lot of it was designer, with there being a fashion show and everything I think they pulled out all the fancy pieces, but that seemed to be what the people wanted, fitting rooms looked busy all day.

Hmmm that'swhat I thought alright. I only found out on the saturday it was on and had to make a quick decision on whether to head up or not. Glad I didn't now, I wouldn't have been able to afford anything anyway by the sounds of things.

Does anyone know of a website that does discounted shoes, mainly end of stock or slightly imperfect? They do Irregular Choice, Rocket Dog, Converse and others. There was a link to it on here ages ago and I thought I had it bookmarked but now I'm looking for it and I can't find it.

All I can remember is it had numbers in it's name and someone said it was owned by Schuh, but I don't know if that was true. Any ideas?

New hair, yay!! Got it done in a little boutique between Camden and Chalk Farm, it's a vintage store and hairdressers rolled into one, and even has an adorable little dig called Dougal wandering about!! Oh I love London!

Any suggestions for shopping for bow ties in Dublin?

    Preferably not ready tied...

Lewins have some. More then just black and white ones too. They are in a drawer so ask the staff.

Cheers OG - There's only a few on their site that are not ready tied, so wasn't sure of their selection - Will pop in tomorrow :)

You kitted out with your hand painted one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,641 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

Naaa, just got a couple of striped ones from there. I couldn't face just wearing a black :o.
The hand painted one will take a bit of time to get right. The hand painted ones I've seen are pre-tied, I'd prefer something self tied. I might do a course in screen printing and faf around with that for a while.

If you fancied prussian blue, I've a cyanotype kit you're welcome to play with...

Actually... I wonder if I could get in a bulk of cheapish cotten/silk white ties. I'm feeling a bit crafty... :pac:

I'd been searching for a good one for a while. Got a great one in Next - pink, brown, yellow, green and white check - love it!! Its really soft and comfy - its time to start shopping for the winter now - next purchase will be boots, nice lace-up ones... and some polo-neck jumpers. I'll head to Dundrum on Saturday:D

I think I have the same one, is it red check lining? I wear mine with my khaki skinny combats.

Does anyone else find a big difference between the Jane Norman website stuff, and the shop stock here in Ireland? Maybe it's just Galway? I love the stuff on the site but never see anything nice in the shop. I must have this beauty for the ball season!!!!!!!

I just went into a "bridal room" to see what could be done with a dress I want to wear for the grown up debs. She suggested a corset effect with a panel off the back of the dress to cover my back. My back has gotten too wide! :(

It will take the train off my dress :( but it did get stood all over at my debs! I'm nervous about doing it, but I feel I have to. This dress and I are meant to be together!

Remembering I'm a man and allowing for my own particular tastes in what I like to see wimmin wear - I say go for the corset lace back. In fact you should forgo the modesty panel altogether and leave your back bare under the lacing. :)

I'm trying to keep the dress as much original as it is. I'm more in love with this dress than I have been with anything ever! :o

The dress comes up to just under where my shoulder blades are. It did have a zip but now it just won't come up the whole way now! I would get loads more wear out of it to balls (hehehe) if I did this. I'm just worried that something will go wrong!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,641 ✭✭✭✭OldGoat

Well, as things stand now, you are not getting ANY wear out of it. Right?

You could save the dress for next years event and lose a size between now and then. Course that would mean you have to go out and buy something for this year. :D

I'm not gonna loose a size off my back until I get my ribs removed old goat! I don't think there is a likelihood of that ever happening. I was smaller when I was 18, it's not even weight that's the killing part of it. I'll bring it down to the girl tomorrow!
